If the spy budget is like the Pentagon budget, the U.S. spends more than the rest of the world combined. How many spy satellites does Argentina have pointed at D.C.? How much of the world's fiber optic network goes through Iceland, as opposed to the United States? This is as nonsensical as saying the USAF and US Navy are matched by prop fighter planes in Bumfuckistan because they both have guns.

    The NSA is entirely unique in spying on the electronic communications of every person on the planet.

    And I've now seen people excoriate MS for trying new things and trying to innovate.

    You seem to be assuming that "innovative" and "good" are synonyms when it comes to products. A smartwatch powered by static electricity might be innovative, but it would be a shitty product if you had to rub it on your sweater just to see what time it is.

    You neglect the primary reason for taking a plane down when there are bigger and softer targets available (shopping malls, theaters, huge lines at the airport) - the psychological impact.

    The problem with that line of reasoning is that Boston was plenty impacted by a couple of pressure cookers, and D.C. was in a panic years before that from two guys with rifles. And just about any mass school shooting. So yeah, a few suicide bombers with simultaneous detonations would have a "psychological impact".

    Unguided missiles have no military value as they cannot be aimed at military targets, that is true. However, unguided missiles are best for terrorizing civilians, and of course those rockets have the range to hit major population centers.

    US military spending is high because it pays its volunteer soldiers a competitive wage while sustaining a substantial military that is actually capable of fighting despite the fact that it often has to cross oceans to do so.

    Do you have some smarter jingoistic friends that could troll on your behalf, because your constant practice you're still bad at it. The U.S. has over 600 overseas bases around the world - how many does Russia have? The United States has 20 air craft carriers in service, under construction, or in reserve - how many does China have?
