Why the AC? I would be happy to post a heartfelt comment like that.

So the geek community not known for getting their fair share of exercise have no reason to walk/cycle 15 minutes to work anymore when they can just get the elevator/company transport. My bed is three miles away from my desk which makes for an enjoyable - if often cold and damp - 30 minute round trip to work each day. There needs to be some work/life balance here and not the unhealthy aspect of living where you work.

Sky Trials for satellite (if the site would work!)

Can't get cable where I am and don't want to pay for Sky so Digital will have to do with digital terrestrial (or freeview) for now. Like the poster says, this is pasted on the BBC calendar for 2010!.
Come on UK, pull the finger out or we will all have these HDTVs with nothing to watch on them.

Here in Edinburgh, Scotland we broke a shoplifters leg when he tried to run away from a shop I used to work in.

Okay we didn't do it deliberately he ran away, tripped and broke a leg that was only just out of plaster. Sounds better in the previous paragraph though :)

I've phsically restrained drunk/drugged customers before who have been a threat to customers. We've had 4 people sit on a particularly wild thief until the police arrived.

It all relieved the monotony of selling WWF videos to teens and Daniel O'Donnell CDs to grannies.

If you've seen the start of Trainspotting where Renton runs along Princes Street shedding CDs from his pockets then you've seen what we used to do on a weekly if not daily basis. We were just sales staff too, not security

I don't know if I'm being simplistic about it but I've tended to go with www.download.com for anything extra I need - like an avi converter or free audio editor package like audacity. Judge the download by other peoples reviews as to whether it does the job without installing any nasties. GnS

CS was never about the graphics for me, it was all about the gameplay. If it had bleeding-edge graphics then we wouldn't be able to play it on our 500-600MHz NT machines in OpenGL or software mode here in the office at lunchtimes.

In fact we have even been known to replace the poor graphics of the Ts and CTs with square edged hitbox shaped skins to increase framerate and playability.

My old office used to have an "inert gas" fire suppresion system that meant you could only enter the server room with special dongles. If any of the dongles were in use then the system would not flood the room until they were all back in the slots outside the room. Can't remember what the gas was though, but there were certainly emergency gas masks in the room for use in case the system failed. This was in a fairly old server room in a fairly old fashioned office so don't know how commonplace these things are. Sorry if this is slightly off-topic but thought it meritted a reply.

Gets round the fact that carrying a "man-bag" makes you look like a girl - anyone who says wearing what amounts to a skirt make you look even more like a girl will have a bunch of hairy-@rsed Scots to deal with!
