While these encompass more than just the actual game itself, they do contribute to the gaming experience...heres a list of starters:

    1. In-game ads that detract from gameplay. Acceptable game for placement: Gran Turismo Unacceptable: City of Heroes

    2. Microtransactions. Don't nickle and dime us to death and don't scrape content that should have been in there initially *cough*horsearmorlumines*cough*

    3. Grind. See WoW, EQ, and BF2142 as perfect examples of why grind sucks.

    4. Limited custimization of controls. See the new Zelda on the Wii as a perfect example. I'm left handed...they just totally lost me as a customer.

    5. Releasing games that should still be in beta. Too many examples to list, but I should NOT have to pay you for a buggy game.

    6. Camera angles. If your game requires such precise cinematography in order to prevent me from dying constantly, make sure it doesn't make me puke, and make sure that it actually enhances the gameplay.

    7. Don't charge me $60 for what is essentially a mod of your existing engine. EA, i'm looking squarely at you and BF2142 on this one.

I've experienced this synch issue on my palm pilot, and it doesn't just affect ONE button. It affects the entire screen. Granted, its hard to discuss this without having a screenshot of what the voting screen looks like (can someone provide?), but it would seem to me that if the synch was off enough to make the Dem. button click on the Rep. button, then the Rep. button would click somewhere else entirely, which doesn't seem to be the case.

Compare that to what you can do with a pen. Forcing precision on the mouse action requires finer movement, greatly increases the likelyhood of unintentionally selecting something, and is generally far more stressful. This is why the users seem to get anxious and want to click. They really want to avoid this horrid new interface that, for some reason, some jackass is trying to force on them.

Funny you should mention a pen. While it uses a pencil, the new Leo Burnett website (they are one of the bigger ad agencies out there) does just this and is extremely difficult to use. What is funny is that they have been praised by many in the industry.

Recently however, Lewis Lazare, the advertising columnist for the Chicago Sun Times, a figure who's opinion is highly respected...BLASTED them out of the water in this scathing piece about their website. Of course, he addresses some other points that I definitely agree on, but the relevance is in his discussion about the interface.

And I'd just like to add....who in the hell gave Leo Burnett the right to resize my browser window? Bastards.

And that is a PR shitfest that the GOP definitely does not want to have on their hands, especially around election time.

Except now they're in a bit of a pickle. You see, not only was his initial script huge news on the net, but now this congressman has drawn MASSIVE media attention to him. Its sad that this would never come true...but just imagine a world without the RIAA, without DRM and without greedy companies. Imagine chatting with someone on the bus or airplane and sharing music with them or listening to the same thing. Imagine plugging in to a small local wireless network comprised of your train car and seeing what interesting music people had that you could add to your collection.

This sort of technology would create a cultural explosion not unlike the original birth of Napster. Suddenly music stops being something people see as existing in the nebulous internet, and starts being something that becomes a unique personal identifier (in the expression sense, not the tin foil hat sense) that is as noticable and almost as visible (thanks to people being connected to their iPods 24/7) as your clothing.

Just out of curiosity, is it illegal for a company to create a music player that just plays MP3s and allows this sort of transfer? If they don't actually sell songs like Apple, is there something in the DMCA or some such law that prevents them from adding this functionality?

Having said that, there are always the snooty girls who won't wear anything other than a natural diamond. The're usually the ones who will leave you because their new man has a bigger house, better car, and bigger bank ballance than you.

I don't mean this as an attack...but don't you think your wife is being a bit hypocritical? She doesn't want you to buy her a real diamond because she knows where they come from...yet she wants other women to THINK you bought her a diamond paid for in children's blood? That seems a bit fucked up to me personally. Now if the other women all gawked and got jealous and then your wife explained her reason for not wanting a real one, that would be one thing. But it seems to me that by reveling in the jealousy of other women and playing in to it, she is perpetuating the desire for natural blood diamonds.

The vast majority of women don't have a fucking clue that these are blood diamonds, or what a blood diamond even is.
