    Edison did DC power - Tesla did AC power. Look what we're all using now.

    The Light Bulb wasn't Edison.
    Separately Joseph Swann and a couple of Canadians did the light bulb (and got the patents - which Edison later bought from them).

    Is it that its broken the protocols, or were the other systems just built to use a flaw in the existing system which everyone liked?

    Anyway - there are patches available for BIND, so go out and patch your own DNS server - its what I've done and I have none of the sitefinder problems anymore :-)

    They could do what most people try and do - and all hardware console makers should do and that is test their software before selling it.

    Just because it has a hard disk in and it can be patched doesn't mean that they can and should patch it.

    The ability to patch does not negate the requirement to properly test the software first.

    Of course, if you have a substantial front door, then you can't see how much post is piled up behind it so you don't need the Post Office to hold it for you.

    Quite a few places now have the letterbox to the side of the door so it doesn't block the door - or let the dog get it and shread it for you.

    Government sets the regulations and demands the safety checks which allowed ancient power grids to remain, and Concorde to fly, and SUVs to pollute.

    We don't need people in space at the moment.
    But the government needs to keep the manned space program so it can appear to be a leader.

    They cannot charge for services not offered.
    If you are being billed for a service they do not offer, then demand a full refund (plus interest and inconvenience) or the service as billed.

    Next thing you know - you'll be finding a charge for the Anti-Rhino device the phone comes with.
    Well - have you seen any Rhinos in NYC?

    Thats 1 in 5 across the North Atlantic, aslong as you avoid Hurricane Season, the Carribean is a lot nicer.

    Plus, from a ship in the ocean flying inland it should be a whole lot easier.

    I have an Empeg and people have linked in GPS and Palms for incar navigation and such.

    The best thing about it is setting up the playlists so you con't need to look and fiddle with it while driving.

    A CP1000 is nice, but you don't need half the extra features. Plus, as its only a Pentium 266MMX and 2Mb video, it won't be that good for playing videos back. You'd be better with their XENARC MP-SC1 which is slightly bigger, but does a whole lot more.

    Can't you set the line to not allow incoming calls which don't have Caller ID set?

    Its usually an option on most lines these days.

    The CVF - the new British carriers are currently being scaled back.
    They cannot build them that big for the cost they specified, so they are scaling them back to carry approx 20 aircraft.

    The design is the French Thales bid but built by a British consortium (the worst of both worlds).

    Why do they need the deregulation?
    They have the US Government test all their sub-orbital rockets, or as they call them ICBMs, on the designated testing ranges - like White Sands.
    What they need to do is open up places like WSMR(White Sands Missile Range) for proper commercial testing so that the new fledgling commercial companies can test and meet the existing regulations.

    The latest thin clients (with no moving parts) are Linux based.
    The ones I've been playing with are from neoware. Flash based OS and everything either X or Citrix off a central server. This is the sort of thing that call centres are actually using now, along with some fairly large industrial corps like Lockheed Martin (who I have to deal with).

    Theres the UK Starchaser which is a basic standard rocket style design, and in the true Brit fashion, a fairly amateur/volunteer project (like Thrust SSC).

    But as the articles state - they will be rolling out the new future carriers in 10 years time, which will be bigger and getter and over twice as expensive at $12 billion.

    They would do better to put the money into smaller "airstrip" size carriers (UK HMS Invincible) instead of the "airfields" (USS Nimitz, etc) they have. Use the carriers for SVTOL aircraft for providing support cover and light bombing while using the larger USA based bomber fleets for the strategic long range bombing.

    The money they would save would be able to up the bounty on a few more "terrorists" or at least fund a healthcare program.

    Everyone seems to want BIG weapons, unstead of useful ones.

    So all that means is that I buy my weapons in Indianapolis and then do the killings in Washington.....

    How about Bagdhad where the civilian population seem to have a large quantity of weapons, gun control looks so much better if you're on the receiving end.

    He's not the content - flash, php, CSS, HTML, etc., its the browser itself.
    Its the way we access that information - the "browser" thats not evolved.

    I suppose if you look at the difference between the original text only browser from CERN to Netscape & IE 4 (about 5 years timespan), and then the difference between those and the stuff today (again 5 years) then the improvements are minor.

    There are a lot of clued up colleges out there.
    But unfortunately - those teaching the courses don't talk much with the techies running the place.

    I even know of a college were they had a lab which during the day was 20 high-spec windows machines, and during the night when it was closed, they rebooted the machines to become a small beowulf cluster.

    A VT100 terminal is not a computer.
    All I asked for is for them to properly label it as being Linux x86.

    Where did I say I wanted a copy? I haven't even said I wanted them to relase the source......

    But then, you're an anoymous asshole with a talent for sticking your head up your ass. Try sticking your name to your words - at least I have the balls to stand by what I say.

    If it didn't state that you needed those requirements then yes - I would be annoyed.

    Is it so much of a problem to educate people to label things properly?

    Are Bioware even aware that there is more to Linux that just x86 platforms?

    And it was possible to play all the games I used to on the Alpha under Windows (it had a nice little package called FX!32 which allowed you to run 32bit x86 applications on NT4).

    Its not a Linux version - its a Linux x86 version. IT doesn't work on my Linux Alpha box, or the Linux Sparc box, so as far as I'm concerned - it doesn't work on any of my linux boxes so they are wrong in saying its out for Linux.

    It really annoys me when people say their software runs on Linux and it turns out to be Linux x86 - because they only release it as binary and they only compile it up for x86 boxes.

    Perhaps when people realise that there is more to Linux that x86, then they can truly say "It works on Linux".
