But isn't it a poor situation where a developer has to worry about things that are as insignificant as petty licence politics, before they decide what environment to develop their application in?
Your assumptions here seem to be more like guesses, you obviously don't follow the kernel development particularly closely, nor test pre releases, 2.6.0-test10 fuctioned perfectly well for me in my test environment, but I haven't tried 2.6.0-test11 yet so you could have a point, but I don't think so. I don't think you're on top of your game.
I don't wish to appear facetious but who in their right mind would run a 2.5 kernel in a production environment, my point was that 2.6 has many performance improvements over 2.4 so I should not imagine even mission critical production environments sticking with 2.4 after 2.6 is released.
Oh well, you're too late, but you keep your head in the sand and maybe next time someone uses the word you can put them straight, again, and again, and again. I really don't see what there is to dislike about the word it's quaint and altogether quite humorous.
I am not making any claim here, merely pointing to acceptance of a word due to prior common usage. Why should there not be a difference? I'm sure the ancient Romans did not invent the word with a view to it being used in relation to a technology of the 21st century.
Utter, utter crap, language is a living thing, if a word is in common usage,as virii is, it is a word, no matter how much the grammar / spelling nazis whine about it.

First rate idea, then you could release your work with a GPL then allow the whole world to benefit from your gift, you could call it 'Christmas' and have the slogan 'so easy your parents can use it'. You won't make any money, but that's not what giving is all about.
Throw it all away. The 'it might come in handy one day' never happens, until you throw it that is. And if you do need it, you can go buy a new one, helping the economy and giving yourself a 'retail boost' in one foul swoop.
Not only is the economic downturn having an effect on high-tech companies in Scotland but there also seems to be a spate of

Bhopal as a warning to developing countries with not so stringent heath laws not to be the centre for industries that cannot afford the massive compensation claims of employees in developed countries?

You have to be a little sceptical as to its value in that case. Does anyone have any links as what the Criteria actually are?
