Institutional investors, by and large, are a pretty savvy group of people. If you think that top executives can put one over on this class of investors, then I'm sorry, but you just don't understand how publicly traded companies function wrt investor relations.
The p2p C&C infrastructure has been talked about since at least 2005. Not much has been seen "in the wild". It has been speculated that this is because a p2p botnet infrastructure has, by its very nature, a much lower efficacy.

Any history of modems that skips the Telebit Trailblazer is BS. Pure and simple. They were like $1k and every geek had to have one. I was at MIPS back in the day and every engineer got one with a Wyse 60 to take home (free work don't ya know:).
