Expressed as a percentage, you are probably correct, but not in terms of total dollars.
Besides, do you really think that if somebody is going to rip off Apple by booting on non-Apple hw, that they'll have any morale concerns about doing the same for the OS?
You may argue to the contrary, but it's the margins made on hw sales that keep the company nice and profitable. If all of a sudden you can install OSX on any generic PC, there go the profits (modulo the iPods).
I expect to see Apple defend this quite vigorously until they either succeed or it becomes overwhelmingly apparent that they cannot.
The IOC has always been very vigorous in defending the branding rights to the games. They even tried to get the Special Olympics to change before the public backlash made them decide to change their minds.
Think about it. If you're Coca-Cola (or some other huge multinational) that's spending 8-9 figures to be the "official whatever of the Olympics", you're going to want to be pretty sure that your competitor isn't going to just say the same thing unofficially. Pretty sure in this case means contractual language with teeth. Hence, the IOC turning around and doing the same thing.
We haven't seen it here yet, though usually our Chinese office picks this stuff up and then tries to spread it through the company. It's still to early in thew morning there.
Do they realy think that the folks that own barelylegal.com (for example) are going to relinquish their.com domains and move to.xxx? All this does is create a money making opportunity for those who register.xxx and nothing more.
Usually it's more like a sentence of comment, but, almost all of my 1000+ comments have been succinct.
I make no effort to hide the fact that I own Network Mirror. I also make effort to hide the fact that it's still a money pit.
Obviously, people with mod points feel that posting a link to a mirror when a site is slashdotted is a good thing. Otherwise, I'd get nodded down, not up.
Might I suggest a method called Figuring Out What You Need and How Much
It Will Cost and When You Will Need It? Especially for so small a firm.
There is no magic formula that can be applied as many things will be
specific to your company and the level of maturity in your IT
infrastructure.
Per employee and percentage of revenue are great metrics to meausre
your technology spending against other companies, but I wouldn't use either
of them as a budgeting tool.
As for getting a budget approved, may I recommend presenting things in a
menu-like manner along with an explanation of the benefits of making the
investment and thre risks of not making the investment.

It's probably proportional to the amount of profit they have earned from your patronage in the intervening years multipled by some small number for goodwill.

Still no backup or rationale, just broad generalizations and a weak attempt at, "I'm way smarter than you."
You may be, but if this is your attempt at clarifying, it does little to prove it.
Making statements using broad generalizations without any backup is like pissing in your black pants. It gives you a warm feeling but nobody notices.

The regex predates perl by many years, and you are reading the output correctly.
ICANN simply cannot do its job as long as the USA controls (or claims to control) the DNS.

Don't get me started on the UN.

I always find myself thinking that there's a little 1-pt font trailer on that message that says "until we decide otherwise"

Your point again is?
Regardless of where he acquired the laptop, he can convert that laptop into a desktop + cash.
As he has no money, which I assume means no income, a tax deduction serves no purpose.
I said "laptop" not computer. If one has no money, a laptop (versus a desktop) is, IMHO, a questionable expense.
He can afford to spend money on a laptop and orange hair dye but not necessities. Misplaced priorities? More likely a publicity stunt.
Weird... very weird
Mirror.
Because you are heavily influenced by Hollywood, science fiction & pop culture and incapable of independent, creative thought?
Women only say that to guys with small penises. You know that, right?

The real reason, of course, is money. The reason they will argue to a judge is that Continental's signal is leaking beyond the space that they rent.

Don't worry, it's just another /. shortcoming.
Karma has nothing to do with it. I do it for the sheer pleasure of annoying the heck out of people like you.
