    Your situation ie: manufacturer is a different ball game to Hardly Normal/Myers, who buy from overseas in the first place and don't produce anything, nor do . they stock many Australian brands and where quite happy to let the manufacturing jobs go overseas. And yes they do price gouge way beyond local taxes and wages.

    Your problems not Java , its the inneficient way you have done things. Your obvious lack of knowledge is not the languages fault. Anybody using Oracle products on anything less than a 6 cpu Nix box with less than 6 gb of memory is going to end up with a dog of a system. Oracle makes MS software look efficient

    So, if you are really worried about lawsuits and all that, stay away from either C# or Java. But between the two, legally, C# seems less risky than Java.
    The major difference is that A lot of major players have backed java. If sun went the sco way how long do you think it would take before IBM,HP,Oracle etc got together and bought out sun. M# on the otherhand has no playmates they can do what they want when they want

    J2EE is the best chance against .net , as long as .net stays on the desktop and out of the enterprise its fine with me. While java and c# look similar its when you go to the distributed environment the main differences occur.

    After seeing many similar posts to this java and .net are so slow , use C++ for speed I figure that if it was realy about speed they'd use assembler, but mostly i think its just that OO makes the weekend script kiddies on here have to think to much. Java for programmers that are knowledgeable .net for programmers that want MS to do it for them

    Hmm us oldies would remeber VMS , sounds like MS has just caught up to the late 80's , or is it that some dec guys did alot of the ground work for NT Don't you just love geeks that can only point and click a mouse and use that as a basis of select a technology

    We have the same problem in Australia, if you look at the new security laws they want to pass , they are the same ones the govt tried to pass in the 50's . just change the old words from communists to terrorists. Same side of politics too. Like the 50's I hope these ones are kicked out too
