  3. They consider they're losing money because the flight to the midpoint, booked by itself, would cost more than the longer flight. They're out the difference.
    Of course, they're full of crap, but that's their logic.

  4. I had a girlfriend once visiting, who had an outbound flight from LA to Japan with a layover in San Francisco. We had decided to drive up to San Francisco, so we called and asked what would happen if she missed the LA flight and simply got on in San Francisco. They told us it was illegal, and she wouldn't be booked. According to them, we HAD to drag her back to LA.
    So we did the only logical thing.
    We took her to the airport in San Francisco and got her boarding pass for the flght to Japan before the flight for LA had left, so the system wouldn't show her missing her flight.

    Stupidity.

    I dunno.l have a few relatives who talk about this, but when push comes to shove I'm actually doing more volunteer work than they are, and I have a full time job.
    They like the idea of helping the destitute, they just can't motivate themselves to do it. And when they eventually do, it's a never ending litany of how much of a difference they made- meanwhile I'm buying the sandwich they're eating while telling me what a capitalist I am.

    I also believe that work can beneficial on it's own.

  7. I would agree, there seem to be so many people who are motivated by despising a particular poster than actually contributing.
    Additionally, many seem to feel posting AC makes being a jerk a viable thing.

    Having a RFC to standardize length, characters and expiry dates would be a good first step

    Oh my god a million times this. I was just talking with someone this morning about how they create a password that can be variable for various sites, etc but still complicated. But then you hit that site/authentication that won't take caps, or only takes some special characters, and it completely breaks down.

    I see this a lot "Society sucks, you all need to educate yourself". Provide solutions other than "stop falling for oligarch ass kissing free market fund ideology". Because simply saying things suck is like a college stoners debating society: no solution suggested.

    Or, he can do what everyone else who holds a job knows to do and shut up about things publicly unless officially sanctioned to speak. I wouldn't do a TV interview criticizing some aspect of my current employment without expecting repercussions.

    That's pretty much it.
    I considered getting a new car last year when I thought mine was failing.
    Shopped around , did the math, figured which one would provide the cheapest amount of mileage per $.
    Then my car DIDN'T fail. So I didn't get a new one.
    Many people are incapable of making that decision.

    That's kind of the problem: The coal is just being used somewhere else, but they can "feel good" about it. Sigh.

    There are a lot of people, liberal and conservative, who consider themselves part of a "team", and support everything that team does regardless of logic.
    We'd all be better off it everyone just started looking at issues and deciding for themselves what they support.

    It's OK to agree with an issue Trump supports if you're liberal.
    It's also OK to disagree with an issue Trump supports if you're conservative.
    Quite frankly, it sort of creeps me out when people simply agree based on who is agreeing or disagreeing with an issue.

    there's a distinct difference between he generic work "liberal" and the political ideology of a "Liberal". I"m not sure why you're getting an insightful mod for this, it's common for political terms to take on a life of their own beyond the original term.
