    Why bother spying when you can just scan the biometric database for government-defined "irregularities"?

    Genetics is the new gospel these days anyway. Just store the DNA and scan the DNA for sequences of genetic "patterns" or "defects" that makes people more prone to terrorism... the terrorism gene... then preemptively arrest them!

    Problem with Thunderbird is that I never liked the way it handled multiple-acounts. And could not import multiple identities from Outlook very well. Hopefully this is resolved. Looking forward to Thunderbird dropping presents all over the place from the sky.

    No, Bush's policy has always been to ease taxes on the rich while shifting them to lower icomes. The question is... how can Bush tax the poor users of the internet while letting the rich shop for free?

    This is hype. Gates is advertising that he has a personal interest in defeating Spam. It is a contradiction to say that Microsoft will end all Spam in 2 years... while in the same sentence arguing that legislating to fine spammers is the best approach. If Gates really did have a way to end spam in 2 years, there would be no reason for wanting to fine spammers, since they would be as ineffectual. Capisce?

    There is a difference between private people using their cameras, and law enforcement using their cameras. Law enforcement needs just-cause, private does not. The intentionality is different.

    Please do not call imply others are "retarded, don't understand the words you're using, or you're just being flamebait" until you step back and fully digest the topic at hand.

    Ticket cameras are sinister. Using technology for the sake of automating control will be one of this century's biggest human rights struggles.

    Public space you say? You deserve private rights in public space. Police officers are not legally allowed to rape you; cameras for monitoring as a "preventative" measure is a kind of rape. If you don't stop this now, you'll become accustomed to these new ways, and then you'll next reques "we should all be innoculated with XXXXXX to prevent YYYYYY" or "we should specially register all XXXArabsXXX for reason YYYTerrorismYYY". Oh the latter part already has happened.

    How many times do we have to repeat ourselves? The problem is with the EQUATION, not the VARIABLES.

    You are correct in that there is much Linux propganda as well.

    My statement did not mention Linux though--it mentioned open source. Open source is exciting. It is sexy. It is Zapatista-flavored. Now--like the early days of programming--we see creativity returning for the sheer love of it... and not for capital motivations. Cap It All is what I say.

    In regards to sucessful open source stories, Linux is becoming hugely popular on the server side (not yet desktop). Also, open source projects like mysql, php, and apache already have dominant positions.

    Another MS prediction based on propaganda. Like the Gus Van Sant film, makes me wonder if they see the elephant.

    Unplug the mainframe, and 500 little peer to peer servers emerge.

    What this article neglects to indicate is, ironically, Fear, Unvertainty, and Doubt. Open source. MS only sees FUD when it is convenient!

    The problem of protecting intelluctual property of scientists goes back to the problem of property. Who can own what and how much. I say CAP it ALL. Avoid this problem. Encourage innovation and respect and research. These are the fundamentals of CAPitALLism.org.

    Local farmer's markets grow food locally.

    Some peopel eat food other than what's on the gas station shelves. Some people like their bodies.
