    You USAmericans, for all the great society you've managed to build in the last couple of centuries, are UNBELIEVABLE docile to what corporations do to you. I mean, here I am, living in a third world country, making fun of you because government regulation made cell companies :

    * Don't charge me for receiving calls
    * Don't charge for the first 5 seconds of a call, meaning you can decide to hang up before billing starts if voice mail answers
    * Bill by the second

    Why oh why can't you manage yourself, as a society, to stand up and resiste to corporate abuse?

    Well it sounds ridiculous, but that's exactly what happens in the field of soccer players, here in latin america. They are usually "raised" in some small Club, then "sold" to a bigger one where they get exposure in international tournaments, national teams and (most of all) TV time, and when they're finally tranferred to an european big club, the initial institution claims a share of the amount.

    Same to me. While all the articles everywhere mention it's "standalone download only, not yet in Automatic updates", it appeared yesterday in the update notifications window. Since I have it set to "notify only", I manually downloaded and installed it. I wonder if it wouldn't be alredy automatically installed if it was configured that way.

    BTW, everything seems to be still working :-)

    Anyway, you CAN be all polite and "respectful", but the real question is: why should everyone behave that "cowardly"? What kind of police-state has the US turned into?

    I don't know how it works in Japan, but in my country the two major cellphone companies are implementing their own "mobile cash replacement" systems since months ago. They work on sms/mms platform, without any readers needed on the vendor side. All you do, as a customer, is enter a menu and transfer the money to the recipient.

    It's really understandable: suddenly some financial operations (debit card simile, money transfers) are available to the almost 90% of the population with a cellphone. Most of them were simply off the Banking System before. The percentage of people with access to "classical" finantial institutions / services, such as credit cards or checking accounts is less than 20%. There was clearly a niche to be filled.

    Then again, I don't know how viable would the system be, in countries where most of the population do have credit cards.

    Well that's correct... for a while. As in any "new territory", there's a time for anarchy and (maybe) chaos, free-for-all and stuff. During that period, it's jungle law. Lots of wounded, and a few winners.

    Then of course comes the Reaction, and the Usual Powers settle in. This book explains it pretty well.

    1)That school was clearly marked as a target from months ago. Couldn't they at least WARN the civilians, knowing it was being used as a refuge?
    2)I wonder how many other info of future targets they're giving away with all those videos.
