    "And Dick Cheney too" is the second most clear case of parody.

    The song as a whole though, is opposite the meaning of the original song, and much qualify as parody anyway.

    You still have to find the guy. How much effort is the post office going to go to in order to track down $3,400?

    The fraudster is already commiting fraud and probably theft, so why would they worry about one more charge from the post office?

    How does talking on the phone make you any safer? In order to snare a $4,200 prize do you think someone could come up with a prepaid cell phone, VoIP line, or something similar to use to scam you?

    You missed my point completely though: Pointing out what a savvy shopper you are, then mentioning how you paid via one of the least secure methods doesn't really support your case.

    A credit card user would simply email their credit card company and have the money back within minutes.

    (Well, my bank lets me email, most require a minimum of a phone call, or in some cases signed paperwork)

    Once a money order is out of your hands, it's all but gone. Once it's cashed it IS gone. Since it's as good as cash you can cash it at money mart or cheque cashing places, not a bank.

    huh? What does paying via a money order have to do with anything? -- If you paid via credit card and it never showed up, you'd at least be able to do a charge back. With a money order, you're out of luck.

    I'm not real familiar with projectors, but ultimately the source has a fixed resolution.

    The projector (or any display)'s output will either need to be blurry or pixelated, no?

    Period.

    It's not for a business' entertainment. It's not for commercial profit. It's not to praise Allah. It's music, for personal enjoyment while I pay someone to do unpleasent things to me.

    Better yet, have all the dentists in each city chip in about $100 (total, not per dentist) and pay a local artist to perform some public domain music.

    The local artist will jump at the chance to make 4 weeks salary in one go, will take the $100 and sign away all rights to that performance.

    Well, maybe it does or maybe it doesn't, but I fax out via Vonage all the time (9600bps)

    It often can work, especially if you add *99 (although it's not required), but it's not totally reliable.

    Insecure is relative -- You still need to get my packets in the first place. I would hazard a guess that your average joe couldn't do that -- Or, if they're in a position where they could, they could just as easily tap a landline.

    Sure, it might be possible to monitor the packets in transit but your average slashdot reader probably couldn't do it.

    What about it?

    This is still not a VoIP problem, in that VoIP was built for voice not for analog data.

    It's a TiVo problem in that there is no ethernet port. That being said, there are workaround (USB NIC anyone?) so it's not really a big deal anyway.

    Not trolling, it just takes the wind out of your statement when the reader has to stop and evaluate whether "nes" is "yes" or "no", or something in the middle.

    Instant rebates are fine, it's mail-in rebates that are a problem...

    And I agree 100% -- my purchasing decisions are made strictly on the cash purchase price. I've been known to not bother sending rebates if I'm too busy, although if I have time I make a point to sent them out.

    Nationality... Only that Americans seem to be lawsuit happy, more so then the rest of the world.

    If you want to be a dink, take it to small claims court. Piss away some of your time, keeping in mind that they're probably wasting a lot more money then you are to defend themselves (if they bother).

    If they don't even show up, then you win by default, which would include everything you sue for, including court costs and possibly your time (depending on juristiction)

    Rebates are good for the people that can follow simple directions AND who bother to submit the rebate at all.
