Just be glad that Bush won't be the president at the time. If it did hit, in US soil no less, then he'd start pouring billions per month into NASA for the development of spacecraft to fight the alien 'terrorists' who threw that asteroid at America.
I was at a LAN party over the last weekend, and actually can't concur with that. We were out in a small house in the landside, outside temperatures just above the freezing point, without any heating. Naturally there were mostly high-end computers, but until there were more than about five of us there, the room didn't really get uncomfortably hot.;)
But not THAT great. That's the thing most "critics" around here are astounded by. As a big gamer it puzzles me how just yesterday it averaged 98% from 134 reviews. That put it right into the "second coming of Christ" category. I can see how Zelda: Ocarina Of Time got up there, but not Halo 2. It's not described as leaps and bounds better than the first, which many gamers outside of Xbox circles consider woefully overrated.
There is an interesting anectote to the missing twin towers in Deus Ex' New York skyline. The texture was too big, so they used only half of it. When somebody inquired about this, they simply replied that terrorists had destroyed them as well.
And that was a good while before September 11, 2001...
Intel's crappy super-long pipeline (something like 32 stages!? Someone correct me if I'm wrong)
The Pentium III had a ten-stage pipeline. The Pentium IV doubled that to a whooping 20. But that wasn't long enough. The latest "Prescott" P4 has 31 stages.
Whatever happened to doing one thing and doing it well?
That went the way of the dinosaurs when we started building things that did multiple things sufficiently well. Some parts more, some parts less. For example, simple things like reminders, (alarm) clock and calendar is done well in cell phones, too. The more sophisticated functions (camera, music) aren't there yet, but that's not going to take much longer.
My favorite one has always been non-vocal, though.
Fry: "Oh no. Is this gonna be another crazy experiment that crosses a line man was not meant to cross?" The professor holds up his hand, thumb and index finger a few mm apart.

How exactly does one pursue atheism?
That aside, I do think that strong atheism gets fairly close to religion, in that it's a firmly held belief with no factual base - just like theism. But weak atheism is nowhere near that, it's as much a religion as baldness is a hairstyle. You should at least make a distinction between them.
It may be out on Xbox already, but PC users are anticipating its release next month very much.
That it isn't out of beta is a huge downside...
The BBC has obviously been keeping an eye on spam levels.

Clearly it was the bugs!
Pray it doesn't double again...
I wonder what it's about this time. We've had plain Indy, young Indy, and now we'll have... old Indy.
I think that's mostly because they don't want their Pentium IV flagship killed by the reanimated Pentium III yet.

But you can drool over the box and wear your T-shirt until then!!
Does it say I bought Half-Life 2, but all I can do is wear this stinking T-Shirt! ?
You could also lay blame on retailers putting it on shelves earlier than they were told to.

I'd like to see some evidence of where you say their PR ratings didn't live up to expectations.
The higher Athlon XPs were stretching it. But IIRC only reviews on the 3200+ uniformly agreed that it didn't deserve that rating.
It'll be on Pro7 just before the 20:15 movie.
from a certain point of view
;)
There are those words again. No, Obi-Wan, it's not very convincing.

Time to see what my FX5200 can do...
;)
"Get used to disappointment."
Although I have to say that so much of the game is black, one could almost expect it to run on a RivaTNT.

Opinions, not answers. I'd like to see the source of his 'information.'
If you had RTFL you'd have seen every paragraph has the source cited, with links to webpages where available.

"Buddha! Zeus! God! one of you guys do something! . . . Help! Satan! You owe me!!!"
"I still don't understand why you wouldn't let me craft a laser cannon onto your chest, to crush those who disobey you..."
"Sure, everyone's always in favor of saving Hitler's brain, but put it in the body of a great white shark... oooooh, suddenly you've gone too far!"

As usual, Wikipedia gives good information.
Most people probably aren't looking at articles about subjects where they'd recognize errors. An encyclopedia is for looking up things you don't know.
Restoring sight to the blind is a Bibical miracle, a sign of divine powers.
Who was it that said "any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic"?
Amusing how the little puffs of steam coming off the ship on the video look like video-game-explosion-effects
;)
The mention of Doom 3 makes me think that's the one Carmack is involved in, so maybe that should read Interesting instead of Amusing...
