This is the only plausible Bush White House agenda item that cause them to part with more than a token amount for space exploration. L1 is more useful as a platform from which to launch missiles back at earth than it is to launch science experiments back to the Moon. This is the administration that questions the validity and the necessity for most kinds of basic research so they're not going to part with large sums of money to do that sciencey stuff.
Seriously I want to go to all the 'holders' and vomit and shit all over them for a finite amount of time at the end of which time they have to clean it up or face penalities.
I want content providers to copywrite my colonoscopy movie and licence it back to me.
Fuck you in the plutonium flames of hell.

Oooh boy - The hypermetaBlog. It'll be so lovely and yet not useful to index all the links that link to each others links which list all the links that link to each other.
It will be the ultimate Blog - a ginormous list that lists all the list that list the lists that list all the Blogs.
And therefore computing will become less important over time as other media lines become more important. Expect that AppleTel to become yet another commodity line. Expect AppleWinTel to develop more media oriented hardware-software.
You make some valid points glasshopah but opposed to what? So you don't patch, or educate users or do pretty much anything?
Perhaps the more insightful question Marcus is, how much 'security' is worth doing at all? What are the actual success criteria that worth aiming at? I tend to think Marcus, that security like everything else in life and commerce are worth doing at about a c+ (as in grade not compilers).
There are many college programs which are designed to grind out more teachers of those programs to other students who in turn teach them to other students and so on. Think of all the History degrees and all the other esoteric programs like that. This CIS program appears to be of that ilk.

We have a series of laws that systematically strip away privacy and tear down many of the protections of the Bill of Rights including some that stand up to Martial Law. But we stupid fat soccermom Americans happily give away all those freedoms and rights in exchange for being terrorized by our government.
Seriously, this IS the Bush admin, right? I'm shocked they don't require you to buy a computer with Microsoft Windows (tm) preloaded first, preferably from one of their national vendors.
AVG does a pretty good job but Avast is better for normal scanning. I'm not sure which is faster when you scan everything on the machine. Avast though does a great job of keeping itself current.
Sure I was modded down for a troll for suggesting that firms and governments typically use this as a strategy for renegotiating T+C's with MS for deep discounts but the same thing is true here.
The only real weapon MS has, aside from tweaking their apps to use OO format by default, is to bargain with the price.
After all isn't that precisely what all the Libertarian free bitch slap of commerce fucktards have been telling us? Let the goddamn market decide. And if MS decides that deep discounts + service is a market they want to be in, and, Mass. decides that free software + their own support is a better deal, then they have a place from which to start negotiating.
And for the record, any government agency that willingly encodes all their documents in a proprietary commerical standard is probably by default guilty of collusion. Open standards has been around for a lot longer than Microsoft and seemingly the end of civilization hasn't arrived as of yet.
Last but not least, the reality of any government procurement bid is that that the government gets to make whatever spec they want and the vendors are free to meet it or sell their stuff to someone else.
For years the movie industry was predicting that the game industry would overtake them. And once it did movies would just give up and suck. Now that Games are king, they suck too. Wowie.
Because that's what's going on. Big company threatens to jettison MS. MS steps in and offers a deep discount. Company goes out and tells all his friends. They all do the same thing. Pretty soon the corner drug dealer has to cut prices.
I hope that MS has to cut its prices 50% in the near future. BTW I am an MS stockholder.
I would press to have the teachers arrested for abetting a felony, and corrupting a minor. I would sue the school district for running a criminal enterprise to ennable students to potentially pirate software. I would use the RICO laws for treble damages and attach all of their personal property. Then I would lock up the school district in civil litigation and sue them into bankruptcy.
Scorched earth policy, take no prisoners, leave no survivors. Kill them fucking all.
So your burqa wrapped mom can't shoot at it?

Just wondering but is a huge 60mph blimp somewhat fragile over or near a war zone?
It will break with 100% certainty.

MS is starting to sound like the US government.
It's where they stash their weed.

Do you work for them? You must. Last week there were two columns on Intelligent Design.
BTW why, since you work for them, are you still scraping up stories about John Kerry? The last time I checked he didn't actually win. Your guy did.
