    but the Covenant remain, thus Halo 2. In Halo 2, you fight the Covenant and more of the Flood. The game ends with neither the destruction of the Covenant nor the Flood, thus Halo 3. Halo 3 finishes the fight. Then what? Why even go on? The story is over.

    No Halo 4? You mean, $170 Million in the FIRST day of sales isn't enough incentive to make Halo 4? I'm sorry, but there's way too much money wrapped up in that franchise. It's not going anywhere soon.

    Maybe it's because all the ozone fearmongers have jumped ship to the rising tide of global warming. They realized the hole isn't going to get much bigger, and so global warming offers much more bang for your buck when you want to be an alarmist.

    Or maybe it is because we drastically reduced ozone depleting chemical use and it is not such a immediate concern. Nah, it has to be some sort of consiracy right?

    The prophets of 1970 said: -We would be out of oil by now -Our forests would be gone by now(Remember those commercials - the one with the little girl walking with her grandfather that were wearing gas masks and they were in a dry river bed and she says "Grandaddy, what was it like to have trees?") -The ozone hole will get larger and eventually allow kill 80% of life on the planet -Mercury poison will kill all the fish (Fictional movie about it)

    And 1984 was supposed to happen in 1984. Therefore, it can never happen.

    Actually, I believe you can buy single tracks now. The subscription service is cheaper though.

    While I know some people may dislike the new Office 2007, after using it for a while now, I can say honestly that it's the best version yet. The usability and UI are greatly improved (once you get used to them).

    Open Office (and I haven't checked out the latest version) comes in and says that it's a replacement for MS Office... but it does things its own way. Some shortcut keys are similar, but a lot of stuff is different.

    Note that the hypervisor doesn't prevent you from updating the GPL code (the Linux kernel, for example)-- it just prevents you from getting extra access to the machine by updating the code. Thus it allows "tivoization" without violating the letter (or arguably the spirit) of GPL v3. The GPL code you can hack and modify to your heart's content; the hypervisor just makes sure that said hacking doesn't compromise the machine.

    Is this really a bad thing though?

    If a company wants to build a black box from the ground up they should be free to. Adapting some GPL software to then run on this machine so long as they follow the license of the software should be their right.

    People saying this is a circumvention misunderstand the point of the "Tivo" clause.

    It's when they lock down "our" code that it becomes an issue.

    I can't even figure out what they are trying to say with this article.

    Microsoft doesn't distribute GPL software so of course they will not be bound by the GPL.

    And secondly, I though the MS Novell deal was grandfathered in anyway. The only reference I can find for that though is this line: "Among other things, the released version grandfathers in the Novell deal so that Microsoft's SLES coupons will undermine their patent threats" from the GPL ver. 3 release posting. link

    That is pretty good idea, though they would never air it. They hire a kid as the bait (which should be abuse itself honestly), you just hire a kid as the prey, have them lie about how they are 50 years old.

    You merely have a license to use, in a particular way. I can't fathom why that is such a difficult concept for so many people.

    It is a difficult concept for people because it is wrong. When you buy something covered by copyright you buy that thing covered by copyright law. The only things governing your use of that item is copyright law, period.
