As others may point out, the reason for this is that Turbine has launched more MMOs than anyone else. Asheron's Call, AC2 (failure), DDO, and LOTR.
AC is still alive and trying to do well and I'd say it was much superior to the EQ that seemed to oclude it during it's early lifetime.
AC2 was pretty ambitious but for some reason - and I'm not 100% sure why - it failed. Very pretty game.
DDO - it is still alive and has an appeal to a very specific kind of player, trying to be faithful to the pnp DD crowd. I'm not sure how the game is since launch but it looks like Turbine is doing the same kind of frequent updating that it did with AC in the early days (major update every month).
So LOTR was their fourth crack at the bat - and it looks like practice makes perfect.
I actually would expect any major IP who wanted to develop a MMO around that property to approach Turbine. At one point I thought that Turbine was going to get Star Trek and it's too bad they aren't.
You have no proof. Just because you think it's lacking as an FPS doesn't mean you haven't ever played a PC FPS.
I can break your rule here: I have been playing FPSes since Wolfenstien and actually the first one I played extensively was Rise of the Triad. I've played and owned pretty much all the big ones and mostly have been enjoying Battlefield 2142. I've actually placed in a big lan tourny playing FPSes (though I am not the bees knees, so to speak - just pretty decent and lucky).
You're also forgetting that the controller method actually levels the playing field since the skill level for people who are EXPERT twitchers don't have the same level of domination over those who are not.
Actually, that is on Wiki as best I can see and I don't see anything wrong with this kind of activity. What I meant by the slur is your charge that he is a homosexual.
Not only is it not independant, it IS a government in parallel and an incredibly undemocratic one producing a lot of anti-semitic trash and really stupid programming. People act like the BBC is some great propogator of great entertainment, but the truth is that if you are talented actor/writer/whatever in the UK, you just don't have too many other places to go, unlike in the US.
I'm sure there will be some great laughs (if you enjoy Simpson's humor, and I do), but without a structure to the game, it seems like these levels will play like minigames and in terms of fun, be a jack-of-all-trades, ace-of-none product.
Hopefully the price will reflect this.
It sounds like the game design is being led by non-game designers - not necessarily a good sign becauses few designers first tries make it out of the park.
Microsoft's attempts at wringing every last bit of money out of the consumer, while sorely lacking any sort of courage to support more media types that might offend the "content producers", has completely turned me off to the 360.
I know you want to be angry about something, and MS looks like a good target for your anger, but let me assure you that this is NOT MS's choice and if they could legally give you the codec they would. Perhaps be angry at the content producers. Note that MS is in the business of making money - and no one is making money doing what you mention - XBMC is a FREE program. So look to FREE PROGRAMS to solve the 360 limitations - and it looks like it's been done.
BBC is a government in parallel. When someone can confiscate wealth from you without reprecucions, it is a government.
Please continue to pull speculation out of your backside about how great the BBC is. I watch BBC America for maybe an hour each day (Ramsay is being re-run) but the other shows you cite - I consider them all crap.
The difference is you want ME to PAY for YOUR crap - my point is if you want it, pay for it yourself, you arrogant asshole and don't try to dictate to me or anyone else what 'good television' is - we can decide on our own and pay for it ourselves - either directly or by watching ad-supported content - you know, like SLASHDOT.
It's a socialist crap hole. You must be yanking my plonker. TV in the states is so much freeer.
Why don't you just let the government mandate everything and run your entire life since you seem so confident of letting a mobocracy dictate everything to you.
Here in the US the governent sponsors one channel here in the US and multiple radio stations. Guess what - NO ONE LISTENS TO THEM AND NO ONE WATCHES THEM.
Does BBC get some good programs? Sure - but if you are a talented producer in the UK, where are you going to go? Where else can you go other than Big Brother?
So support FORCING every Briton to pay a TV tax to fund tv shows they may not even care for or watch, but would complain about a cable provider's on demand service disabling fastfowarding through ads that pay for the program on an entirely voluntary basis?
Michael Richards, please.
BTW - the BBC still had to PAY a lot to Ricky Gervais. It wasn't some great work of charity.
How come when I read your post I heard it in this guy's voice?

Hmm. I've been curious about their Narcanon program, too, especially when there have been questions about it getting fed funding.
Anyway, I'm not even sure why this was all brought up in the first place here.
Er, first sentence should be 'just because you like it doesn't mean you aren't familiar with other FPSes.'

If it wasn't a seeming falsehood that is meant to demean him, it wouldn't be used. Now do yuo have any proof of it?
most who love Halo it was similarly their first FPS
I really doubt that assertion. MAybe some, but hardly all. They have either played other on PC or another console.

Uh, and why the slur against Travolta? Any actual evidence?

....Or to be a k whore on Slashdot...
Very few deaths during the Inquisition and the municipality did the torturing and killing.
As I recall, however, you cannot hear footfall in Halo 1 or Halo 2.
AND Eastenders?
Did you miss 'Are you Being Served?' and 'Yes (Prime) Minister'?
Cool. I'll have to see what I need to do to get it on Comcast.
How do you get BSG in HD? I have comcast and it's not in HD there.
Hopefully the price will reflect this.

The system itself got an update a while back that allowed 1080p.

I really like being able to stream stuff off of my PC to my TV, but it only likes WMA pre-update.
