I saw that... that was dang crazy.
offtopic from your post but i don't want to post 2 comments..... i read the reviewed book, and there was an interesting section on how people who want to be classified as something, they will do whatever other people who are classified as that do.
now just as an example (this was actually an example in the book)... a 12 year old kid thinks he's good at computers, so he considers himself a nerd. He visits/. regularly and realizes that all the nerds use linux. The next thing the kid does is he gets his older, non-nerd, but better at computers (than a 12 year old) to install linux on their family PC... the kid is now officially a nerd.
There was another section on how people like to stand out... which can be compared to the people here on slashdot who use windows and love microsoft products. The same can be said to the people who use linux and talk about it outside of slashdot (like their communities, where everyone else uses windows server stuff)
sorry that was just a long random rant and my own personal review of the book... mod me down
He further predicts -- ugh! -- that software will not be written but visually designed."
this will probably at most be the case where most development is done visually. In the future, this difference will be comparable to people who code in assembly (or even binary, if you're psycho), and those who code in higher level languages (C, C++, etc...) Those who want completely optimized code will use non-visual techniques but those who just want an appealing product and don't really care about resources or speed (speed will become less and less of an issue, as will memory), will use visual stuff.
Micrsoft releases final drafts onto the web... but WAIT! we can see their ROUGH DRAFTS TOO!!!
I'm sorry, but there wasn't anything embarrassing about any of that. It's not like Bill Gates himself or anyone high up in the company is the one who initially wrote those documents. And besides, they were corrected... so i don't get it... who cares? this is not news. (anyone want to see the rough draft to my english paper!?!? it's HORRIBLE! how embarrassing!)
Researchers believe they will first achieve fusion sometime around 2014
they're a bit late... it's been a few billion years since fusion has been developed... unless they are refering to themselves... in which case, go for it!
I read it, and although it doesn't go into too much "new" detail on techniques, it was still entertaining to see someone else's methods for lego construction.
i recomend this to anyone and everyone who's played with legos, knex, or any of the crazy new toys people come up with these days.
another example of someone who's been fed lie after lie.
Book of Mormon was changed by the church in thousands of places
the content was not changed, only some wording to "get with the times"... i'm sure you can think of some examples where the a word from an earlier time may not mean the same thing anymore.... an example - 'gay'. as for your evidence... go here.... http://www.calcgames.org/site/pub/evidence.pdf
O, BTW, you can all become Gods if you're good mormons (which requires giving 10% of income to the church).
It's nothing but a money making machine based on lies, lies, and more damned lies.
Tithing has been around forever, and there is NO church leader who gets rich off of it. NOT ONE. We are a church of volunteers and this comment demonstrates your idiocy towards FACTS. Tithing goes towards building churches and temples. We also pay fast offerings which go to humanitarian aid and some forms of welfare for people who can't afford food. I cannot believe you call it a money making machine - this church has to be one of the most giving in the world, and not one of the leaders benefits financially from it.
But the fact remains that the whole religion is based on historical events that no non-Mormon historian has ever seen evidence of.
that's not true. see here for several... in fact read that whole thing.
The only question I have about the Mormon religion is that if it is so enlightened and make so much sense, why is it secret? Why has the Mormon church been compared to the Soviet bureaucracy? If this is based on the word of God, why does it need to be hidden?
i don't understand what you mean by 'secret'. there's nothing secret about it. it's not hidden! and since it's "based on the word of God" we have missionaries going out trying to tell everyone about it.
do you understand that those books present false facts and distorted truths? for some reason i doubt you've read the book of mormon... which would probably make the most sense if you want to know anything about mormons...
I'm guessing you haven't read much... well, much of anything true... the mormon religion makes the most sense of any christian religion (that's even what my anti-christ european history teacher (Dr. Corbett, used to be a journalist... went everywhere... he knows everything about everything politics/religion/government) says). he says "if you insist on being christian, mormonism is your best bet".
i'm guessing what you've read was anti-mormon. it's amazing how much nonsense people talk about mormons. once you really understand what they believe it's not 'crazy' at all, but everyone thinks they're crazy because of the propaganda against them.
he was simply being kind enough to tell us another one of the phony religions. it's only different than 1 religion. the correct one (mormons). well, then it's also different from all other christian religions cause they weren't all just "made up"... such as the Catholic church, which was the result of the Apostacy, when everyone lost the truth. Then mormons came around and saved the day.
People keep claiming the next big console revolution will be a PC killer,
PC KILLER? like PCs will no longer exist because no one wants to play games on them? No.
I have an X Box and it's great for sports games with your buddies, or for playing when I can't get my husband off the comp

then what they should do is stop arguing about it, get together, argue a out it for another few hours, and DEFINE it. There's no use arguing about something that has not been DEFINED. Either make a size requirement or something but either way it doesn't matter. It's not like calling Pluto a planet is going to change anything about Pluto.
i wouldn't consider it spamming... it's a lot easier to vote in a poll than to post a comment... i find it interesting to learn what everyone on/. (and other websites) think about certain issues, such as what browser they use. I've already learned something from this poll -- so far more people have voted mozilla than MSIE, which absolutely surprises me. I always thought it was just a vocal minority that used Mozilla, but I suppose i might be wrong. (then again maybe the ones who use mozilla got here faster than the ones who use IE)

as well as all the advantages of airplanes with all the advantages of rocket flight and all the advantages of re-entry continuously.
i can most certainly tell you a lot about what goes on in temples.
-Baptisms
-Marriages
-Other ordinances (none are secret, but i don't want to list them, you can look them up at mormon.org if you want)
these "secrets" we are sworn to are random tidbits of information that have no significant doctrinal....... um.... significance.

It's all really just a metaphysical Ponzi scheme.

Given that you have to select an E-mail to delete it, how are users supposed to protect themselves from this one?
place 2 other junk emails around it, select the top 1, hold shift, select the bottom one.... DELETE.
i'm checking the log files right now... and of the 15 voters, 10 used MSIE. (only a couple actually voted IE)
