... NOT to implement a saveMe() Method in every object i think, cause every object should have only a single responsiblity (SRP: http://c2.com/cgi-bin/wiki?SingleResponsibilityPri nciple)
it would be best to create a SaveData-Object and SaveDataSaver-Object (stupid name, but u know what i mean:)) the saveData object as a value object and a saveDataSaver for the responsibility to save it.
...for those Students that the boom in video games will continue. right now, big titles make more money then most big hollywood flicks (compare a well-sold ego-shooter to a movie like "pirates of the carribean"), but there once was a time where there was a huge downturn in that industry in the early 80's,
..not dell, not compaq... why should anyone sell pcs with a OS where u need to after-install such things as the media player? MS knows that no one will do that.
Its like those Nokia Game Device/Cell Phone, where u had to take out the battery to insert a game-chip. Kids like to play, but IF they play they don't need phone.
.., a description with a changing meaning. Once it was a technical description for a incomplete software, now (like the "RC" in popular stuff like firefox) it seems to mean "new, innovative" rather then "untestet, not to use in productive environments". maybe there will be a shift in the previously know descriptions.
maybe there will be soon something like a "LM" -> Latest Milestone.
I really like Python, its a well designed language (ruby would be the best non-typesafe language, but the syntax sucks a little in the eyes of a java freak:)) and its increasing popularity (check http://www.tiobe.com/tpci.htm) is surely a good point for using it as a modding language.
... most RPG-players like the WoW-World more then AD&D stuff, but maybe thats because of the quality of the game. it would be great if wizardry 7 came out as MMRPG, still the best game in that Genre IMHO. maybe we could give blizzard a hint..
I think u are partly right. Those whole SOA-Hype might be over-complicated and not very new, but its still more "real-life" then the earlier affords. Communicating via HTTP (hey, free ports, no work for admins) is a great thing. So Standard-EJBs (the stuff J2EE 1.4) are not build for Web Services (to old:)), cause, as u said, they use RMI-IIOP
right. but it would still be nearly impossible to keep track of. not only the mass of companies is a problem, also the "grade of competition". when u are searching for bmw because u want to check out old bmw bikes, its not ok not to show mercedes car section...
i think it would be great if non-government companies could get a big chunk of the future of spaceflight. maybe the whole thing will be because of the money, but because of that, those companies will have to make spaceflights cheaper, so more people may enjoy a spaceflight in the near feature.
To bad its not OS'd, it would be fun to see those old 8 bit Code surrounded by direct x wrappers:) i'm not sure i would use those code i a newly coded software.
...but i don't hope so. It's often interesting to hear a song more then twice, and find out that its even better then those smash hit u hear everyday. its very difficult to find those gems if u are not forced to listen to them, cause u didn't buy thw whole album. but thats just my opinion.
I think thats a good thing, and the next logic step. big hits in the game industry nowadays return more money (>400$) then movies that are called "hits" (>200$), so the demand of good coders is higher than a couple of years ago.
u r right. well, buying new hardware has some positive effects. everybody is talking bout "how expensive" new hardware is, but waiting every week 2 hours longer with older pcs and u don't have to wait very long to get the money back.
