I think it would be great if some national radio show would rerun Orson Wells radio adaptation of the H.G. Wells classic "war of the worlds" which aired on halloween night in the 30's. For those of you who never heard it, it so panicked the east coast that most of it's residents thought the martians had invaded the world LOL

Until this country wakes up, throws ALL of them out, and elects people from "flyover" country, and limits their terms to let say 12 years with NO reelection possibility, it will never change. Everyone has been saying ham radio is dying.....well, they said the same thing about CW (morse code), but it's still around. Plus, you think the manufacturers of amateur radio gear are in a money loosing business? Doubt it.....every few months I get a catalog with all the new gear....they build it, people are buying it.

About a month after I got it, you would need a gun to pry it out of my hands. Now I have a Dell Axim X5 and I'd rather die than live without it. What do I use it for? Everything! Keeping track of appointment times, birthdays, jot quick notes, service calls (I'm a field tech), my inventory. Games? NONE, I use it for business, not as a glorified game boy. I even have a detailed city map in case on a rare occasion that I get a call on a street that I don't remember where it is. And this map you don't have to struggle with to refold :)

Even in a DOWN economy, they always want to add MORE programs. Programs require money, that money comes from taxpayers. The taxpayers have had ENOUGH! If consumers want effective tax reform, to reign in the excessive bloat in government, force congress to repeal the FICA with holdings!

  11. Just try it! on RIAA Plans Cyberwar Effort · · Score: 3, Interesting

You would think that the RIAA would have figured out what would happen, if they engage in a "cyberwar" from what happened to Madonna. Instead of trying to outsmart a group of computer users (which WON'T happen unless they hire hackers), they should concentrate on the reason most people download MP3's anyway. THE HIGH PRICE OF CD'S! I remember when CD's hit the stores in the early 80's. The RIAA said that at 20+ dollars each, yes they more expensive than LP's (records), but the technology was new and expensive, and as more and more hit the shelves, the price would come down to the price of LP's. Well, it's been over 20 years, and the prices are still in the 15-20 dollar range, unless you catch them when they first come out and they have a price reduction. As CDRW's became popular in the 90's and the price of blank CD's came down to less than 50 cents each in bulk, people started asking, hey, how come audio CD's are so expensive? It can't be the CD material. As more and more people saw that: A. The artist aren't really making a lot of money on each CD sold, B: The stores where the CD's are bought aren't making any money, C: Companies like Sony, EMI, EPIC(now sony),etc.....are having lavish parties, etc etc......HEY! We are being ripped off! That's what fueled the explosion in file trading (that and peoples desire to get something for nothing). If the record industry would DO SOMETHING positive about file trading like what Apple is doing, then I think the file trading "problem" would disappear. Just look how many LEGAL songs were downloaded in 18 hours! 275,000! @ 99 cents each! Now, although I think 99 cents per song might be a little high, considering if a CD had 12 songs@ 99 cents, the cd, jacket etc....it's a step in the right direction. Come on RIAA, drop the BS, get on the bandwagon and realize your over zealous activities are history. You've had the gravy train for too long!

Paperless office........I remember this back in the early 80's. It was going to "put me out of business" (I repair office printers, copiers, fax machines etc). Every time the government comes out with some new law or rule (the HIPPA law comes to mind), the amount of paperwork required causes my business to boon! I think more paper (trees) are wasted every time a new law hits the books!
As for printers, I look a few months back when I buy a new printer. What I mean, I don't buy the newest on the block. I start looking about 6 months after I've spotted one I like. Then I start checking the websites that offer refill kits or replacement (non OEM) cartridges. If they don't, or can't carry them (due to chips etc), I look for another brand of printer.
The fax/laser printer/digital photocopier market is the same way.....the machine profits are marginally small, they make it up on service and supplies. Use to, with the old analog machines, you could find cheaper toner, but the newer ones, they have "patented" the cartridge, by putting notches, or bumps on them that activate a switch when the bottle rotates. Since the bottle design is "patented" and the sharks (lawyers) of the manufacturers will hunt down anyone that produces a generic cartridge, it won't work in the machine (well it will work sort of), it will display "use genuine toner " message nag screen, and the copy quality is automatically cut back.

I've been conservative all my life. I believe that if someone does something illegal, they should be PUNISHED, not "forgiven"....
When this country finally gets over it's "politically correct" era, we'll be better off.
I could care less the color of a persons skin, or where they come from. If you want to come to this country, do a couple of things. ONE: move here LEGALLY, not sneaking in under the boarder etc...
TWO: Learn or get an understanding of ENGLISH!
We speak english here in America. When I come to your country, I would not expect that everything be printed or spoke in my language, so don't expect it here.
