  2. This has been going on for decades on Regionally Encoded Toner Cartridges 'to Serve Customers Better' · · Score: 5, Informative

I've been in the copier/printer/fax/computer business for over 30 years. Region locking things has been going on for about that long. It first started with designing a tab, prong or other plastic part, to prevent a cartridge from working. Savin, some Lanier, Ricoh boxes are the same, but their cartridges won't fit. Toshiba, some lanier, Kyocera boxes are the same, but their toner won't fit. They use to do it with the above mentioned "break away" tabs (if you knew what to change), but that wasn't good enough, so they put a different drive gear coupling on the rear. But that wasn't good enough. Now a lot of them have either a CRM chip, or an RFID chip on the back of the cartridge that gets close enough to the one in the machine to read it. If they don't match, it won't work. In the "olden" days of dry toner copier, they did this to prevent a person from refilling the toner cartridges. With the color copiers/printers, the particle sizes have reached such a small size, and, the temperature melting points are becoming so small, that if you vary the toner or carrier just a very small amount, it makes a mess and can destroy some components. The DRM on cartridges is a PITA because if you slap a genuine new one in, and it doesn't read, it creates a service call. Sometimes, you can go in and tell it to look for the cartridge again, but if that doesn't work, you have to reject the cartridge and RMA it back to the company.

Remember a few years back, there was a university, Minnesota I think, that was offering some sort of grant or something to "African Americans". This lady applied online, and went in for the interview and they rejected her because she was white. The kicker is she was born in South Africa, but she and her parents moved to the USA. So technically, she was an African, American...which technically was correct, but not politically correct. Not sure of the outcome, but I thought it was hysterical.

(I had 2 previous 5+ inch screens Dell Streak 5, Note 1, so the size didn't bother me). I mean, how good can a device be (2014) with only a 720p screen, snapdragon 400, 2gb ram, JB4.3 with a 4,100mAH battery. Well, it came, and WOW was I surprised. It blew me away. Bright clear screen, snappy performance, runs everything I want (I don't play games), video, mp3's, great camera, 2-3 day battery life. Less than 300 bucks! It just got the 5.1.1 LL update toward the end of June, but even if it didn't JB4.3 was flat stable. Best 300 bucks I ever spent on a phone, and I've been buying em since the original Motorola brick back in the 90's. I found out that if you find the right device, you don't have to spend 700, 800 or more just to have a great device. They are out there, if you look. I think too many people are buying on brand name only.

Instead of investing in a good script, they try to rewrite an older script, and throw in a bunch of stupid CGI, and explosions. They use so much gasoline to produce explosions, I bet it causes the price of gas to go up! Those that worked HARD, and worked their way up the ladder, are now ticked off, because all of their hard work was for nothing, because now the new hire, off the street that knows NOTHING, gets paid the same. Those that goof off, don't work hard, get paid the same as the person that will bust their butt. Customers, some of which already left, are worried that paying everyone the same, will result in the fees going up. Great job! Anyone that thinks Trump is a Republican, is drinking or smoking some weird stuff! Trump has supported Hillary a lot, and funneled money to her NY State campaign, plus they are good friends. Trump wants to continue to be on tv, radio, newspapers, plus, he would have to put all his holdings and the like in a blind trust. You think he is going to give up the limelight and the money, by becoming president? He's in this to make sure Bush gets the nod, then do the Ross Perot thing to ensure a Hillary victory.

Then when the "brick" came out, you pretty much had to carry it, if you wanted your hands free. Every cell phone I've used, I've used a belt clip. When I got my first smartphone (dell streak5) I carried it on my belt, same for the galaxy note1, and my current Huawei Mate2. It's just as natural for me, as it is for others to stuff them in their pants, or hold them in their hands.
