  1. who's the idiot? on New Gasoline Engine Prototype Claims 3X Current Engine Efficiency · · Score: 0

I could say the same thing about some of the people on "your side". Maddow, Shultz, Matthews etc. The DIFFERENCE, is that most on YOUR side want those on MY side off the air, and, those on MY side, could care less who on YOUR side is on the air. We let the FREE MARKET figure out which is best. From the ratings, I'm guessing more on MY side want to hear what "our" people are saying, than those on your side are saying. If your people are so good & honest, why are their ratings combined, lower than 90% of the people on our side? Hard to argue with ratings, which I suppose is why so many on your side, including some in the current administration, work so hard to try to get them knocked off the air. Oh, and as for Beck leaving his 5pm show on Fox, had you bothered to LISTEN, for the last year, he has pretty much without actually saying, he was leaving his daily show on Fox. He makes more from his radio, endorsements etc, than he makes on the TV show, not to mention it takes him away from his family for most of the day. I understand that people on "your side", use names when you run out of ideas, but please keep it civil will you?

  2. parental involvement on The Dying DVR Box and Woz Wisdom · · Score: 1

Something seldom heard these days, or, so it seems. When I was a kid in the 60's, I wish I had "cool parents". You know, the ones that bought their kid the newest anything, let them stay outside and play on a nice evening instead of doing your homework & getting to bed early. The kind that never attended a PTA, school board meeting, parent teacher conference. The kind that NEVER asked you "what did you learn in school today?" Nope, I didn't have one of those. My parents were the most involved, wanted to know everything I did at school, who I was hanging around, had to be in bed on a nice night before the sun went down if it was a school night, went to every parent teachers conference there was. Had a blanket understanding that you didn't need to call me if you thought he needed to be spanked because he will get two. One from the teacher, and one from me when he gets home. I THANK GOD every day that I had, what I thought was strict parents! I run into people I went to school once in a while, and some of them are still acting like they were in high school, plus always complaining how broke they are. School is a two way street for the most part. You only get out of it, what you put into it.

Once again, here is a knee-jerk reaction for something. Throw the baby out with the bath and then run around scratching your heads on how you aren't as mobile as you use to be, but, in the great socialist leaders (LOL) of the world...what's good for the collective, is good for the government! Baaaaahumbug! Bunch of limp wristed idiots who couldn't run a profitable business if they tried. Socialism stops working, when you run out of OTHER PEOPLES money to spend. The USSR ran out of money in the late 80's, and pretty much have taken down North Korea & Cuba. The USA is sadly heading down that road too, and will die off when it finally figures out that you can fund the lazy butts that won't work, on the backs of the ones that do. China is trying to run a socialistic-communist form of government, and allowing businesses to move there for the cheap labor, and buying all the other countries debt. If/when their people get a real taste of freedom, and once the USA is broke, and can no longer afford to buy anything from China, they will die off also. What are we worried about, isn't the world suppose to end in 2012? Then party like it is 2011!

  7. Well DUH! on Ma Bell Stifled Innovation, AT&T May Do the Same · · Score: 2

Of COURSE innovation will go down. As someone who remembers the old ma-bell days....when they came out with a phone that WASN'T any color but black, people thought it couldn't get any better than this! Once Ma-Bell was split, we had these neat things that came along. Cordless (landline) phones, answering machines, voice mail, pagers (that were affordable!) and in the late 80's bag phones and then the Motorola brick! The rest, is history. Once at&t gobbles up t-mobile (and they will...they've greased enough palms), even though they say they won't, you can bet Verizon will throw a ton of money at Sprint to get them. Sprint's CEO says he wouldn't sell, but, you know 99.9% of the people will take the money and run. Once you have Verizon & at&t as the only companies providing wireless service, they can come up with a new gadget every once in a while, but with the bulk of people on contracts anyway, you won't get the churn like you did when there were a dozen wireless providers, not to mention the cool whiz-bang devices to use. Two things will happen, to say the least. 1. Prices will go up 2. Service will go down

  8. traditional laptop drives on Intel Replaces Consumer SSD Line, Nixes SLC-SSD · · Score: 1

On the bang for your buck argument, I'll stick with a platter hard drive. I've had laptops for what seems like forever. I carry one in a shoulder tool bag that gets bounced around on a two wheel cart, plopped down on concrete 6-10 times a day, and in 10 years, I think I've lost one drive. Until the price per megabyte comes down close to that of a traditional platter drive, I'll stick with them. The technology is bang on reliable, speed is pretty good, and the "green" drives use less current. The SSD's are still too pricy, the performance "boost" isn't that impressive.

If the USA wants reliable energy, then they are going to have to get it from oil...oh wait...the idiots won't let us drill for oil. Ok, let's try coal...oh wait...the idiots won't lets us mine all of the coal we have. Ok...then there is wind & solar.... oh wait....the wind doesn't always blow & the sun doesn't always shine. Well, then there is hydro power....oh wait, I forgot, they won't let us build dams either. Get the picture? This country has its hands tied due to the PETA/Enviro nut jobs to the point that we can't do anything!
