  1. The CISCO Solution on Slashback: Hippocampus, Matter, Blogs · · Score: 0

Eventually, researchers will test the hypothesis by stopping a monkey's hippocampus and bypassing it with the chip. If the animal regains the ability to store new memories, then the chip must have worked.

With all the talk about other parts of the brain taking over for dead/damaged parts... well hell if they can learn some more then they say "YAY the chip worked!"

What would they do for people suffering from Alzheimer's?
    Brain(config)# erase start
    Brain(config)# copy run start
Brain(config)# reload if only brains were developed by cisco :\

  2. SCO is Scared of Linux on SCO Drops Linux, Says Current Vendors May Be Liable · · Score: 1, Interesting

As we have progressed in our discovery related to this action, SCO has found compelling evidence that the Linux operating system contains unauthorized SCO UNIX intellectual property (IP). Due to this discovery, we are taking three immediate courses of action. .... *snip* .... 2 - The second action we are taking is to suspend all future sales of the Linux operating system from SCO until the attendant risks with Linux are better understood and properly resolved.

that statment says to me that they are afraid that Linux. It threatens their UNIX OS. Sounds to me like they are scrambling to do whatever they can to hurt linux so they can shove THEIR (version of/whatever it is) UNIX up everyones arse's and to shutdown anything that remotely resembles the software they own.

I havent studdied up on SCO cuz from the get-go they seem to be plain idiots and i've had enough laughs for right now, but this just seems like an underhanded way to shut down a growing competitor in the OS market.

Our UNIX products continue to support many of the world's largest businesses. In addition, new customer sales indicate that there is still no better option for rock-solid, dependable technology for their core businesses than our SCO UNIX solutions.

Sounds like Microsoft Propaganda to me...

Should I be forced to give up my classic 1974 Chevy Impala because it's not 'up to date'?...because there are newer and more efficient engines available? Why is a computer any different?

upgrading your car & upgrading your box are two totally diffrent things. Your '74 Impala still gets the job done no matter how old it is (as long as it runs the way it should)... it gets you from point A to point B in a resonable amount of time. Your computer on the other hand may not be able to handle the stuff that you want it to do, and therefore an upgrade is necessary to git it to do what yu want it to.

Kinda like if you wanted your Impala to beat a 1000HP+ funnycar that has a Nitrus system. yu just wont win ;) or even qualify for that matter (hence the Minimum Specs for GameX to run)

  5. Moonboom on Bombing the Moon for Water · · Score: 0

So, they want to find water on the moon eh? by blowing it up eh? Forget "Armageddon" and "Deep Impact", it wont be a Asteroid/Comet coming from deep space that will crash into and totally obliterate the earth & destroy all the life on it with it, it will be our friendly nightime reading companion (yes i have bad vision from reading in the moonlight). What has the moon done to us to deserve this!?! its not like it has a pimple or sumthin we have to pop.

If they want to find water on the moon, go looking for that bottle of Evian that Alan Shepard left behind after playin a few holes of golf.

even if they dont totally knock the moon off its orbit (which they probably wont do with just a few lil probes that use bunker buster tech) the idea of big chunks of moon flying wildly into the earths atmosphere dosnt sound too good either.

My Sentiments exactly, its hard enuf for n00bs to understand what a Mhz is. The only thing a new system for categorizing PC hardware/systems will do is just add more confusion and technical terms into an already confounding language (look at how many people HAVE to take a "How To Use Windows*blah*" course). Not to mention ruin the surprise of your mom or dad buying you a new game for your birthday or sumthin, imagine 3 days before your b-day your mom asks: "Hey son, whats your PC 'Game-Rating' level?"

I use to own a goped (a moped without a seat, basically a scooter with a weedwacker engine) and it would get a good 10-15mph, crappy for a goped yes but imagine the crashes at 25+ with no seat to be belted to (as if someone would want to be belted to a mo/goped).

On Another note, i am reminded of the current law(s) about being able to sue the company for calling after being placed in thier company's "Do-Not-Call list", but its hard to tell them to put you on that list if its a RECORDING that is talking on the other side. I have been plauged by Disney's recorded message several times in the past month & have yelled into the phone "PUT ME ON YOUR DO-NOT-CALL LIST" to no avail.
