I love how interesting articles get abandoned yet repeat articles get posted.. I really don't understand. This has been an ever increasing problem here. I have never seen so many repeats:( But then again, what do I know?
this was not flame. it is true. Reverse engineering is a fact of life. There is no way to get around it. Most programs for Linux are created from reverse engineering, almost all IBM compatibles were reverse engineered...
I recieved a message this summer from an individual that worked for a State government agency. It had a faked from address, but the header information showed the IP it came from. I contacted the agency and forwarded the message and info. I was contacted by phone and ended up tracking the individual done w/them. They found out who it was, but they apparently never did anything more than warn him. Now. This is a state government agency... They obviously didn't intercept the message, and really didn't care that he broke several of their rules concerning proper conduct on the Internet from their machines.. Do other companies really give a flying rats ass? With plugins to ICQ that support SSL and ssh for telnet, I would see no reason why anyone wouldn't be protected (even if they were to give a shit what you said or did).
I bashed one of those keyboards into oblivion and it still worked. The god damn thing was bent and it worked (actually it was an old Northgate KB) but same idea:)
the only thing that I want something like this for is to get me beer out of the fridge. Dogs can already be trained to do that and more. In the long run I suppose (since you don't feed this thing) it would be less money, but.. Can the little bastard crawl up onto the couch w/you and cuddle? The god damn thing may think that my "light saber" is an evil light source and run away;)
I don't understand. Bandwith seems to be getting less and less expensive (yes, here in America) yet ISP's are charging more than they were 5 years ago. Dialup users are paying almost as much as DSL users. Some places are charging as high as $22.95/mo. I pay $49.95/mo for 768/128k DSL. They really need to not do metered Internet access, I just see it as ridiculous. Reminds me a lot of AOL's olden days. Why the hell would any Internet junkie in their right mind want to do that?
I apologize to all the non-Americans that have to pay, but unfortunatly, tough shit:)
you were able to get a 166mhz Alpha UDB for 99.95 a while back. They soon dropped to even less. I got mine for like $50 or something. Granted, it doesn't come w/a TV out to your TV but umm, 166mhz, possibility of tons of mb's of ram, and 1k.. What do you want?
bleh, you can get a purebread, all black german shepard (beautiful dogs) for $350. Hmm, soft, cuddly, terribly friendly REAL dog, or some fucking plastic piece of shit that got its only fame from the Real World... You decide.
Now I use as and when I feel like it, and that's not a problem.
that is what I thought. I have taken a break from drugs temporarily but in the past I felt that just b/c I was rolling only on the weekends it was ok, I wasn't understanding that dropping two/three pills every night every weekend was a problem. That was in addition to the fact that I smoked about an 1/8th of marijuana a day. I would wake up w/it, I would use it all day, and I would goto bed w/it. I thought b/c I was doing fine all day I wasn't hurting myself. Whether or not the reporter seems to be blowing this a bit out of proportion isn't my point...
Everywhere I go I see people getting baked (nothing wrong w/pot IMHO) but my point is that drugs are being used quite frequently, and I am SURE that this report is accurate to a degree. 55% of them are addicted to coke, 45% more are addicted to alcohol. 55% of a work force being addicted to a substance and most people turning the head away saying, "that is just the way it goes when the money flows" is fucking horseshit. These people want them to be hopped up on drugs to do their work. Let's face it. Programming is demanding and crazy. People need to do their jobs, and their bosses like the money. They think that it will wear off, but it doesn't. It is a vicious cycle that will never stop b/c of people that don't care to stop it when it needs to be stopped. Coming to work fucked up means you have a serious problem.
they are VERY afraid of Linux in general, especially embedded systems. I never thought of Sun as a leader in the OS dept, they have always been under someone else's shadow, but now they are real upset about the future of Solaris in the shadow of Linux. This is a sad day for Cobalt IMHO. I don't see how this is going to stop the spread of Linux, but it defintly hurts:(

this only has a 56k modem and USB. That really bothers me. I don't have a USB ethernet connection, and I don't use a modem. Why in the hell would I want to use something w/o an ethernet port? In fact, I would EXPECT it to be a 10/100 card, I don't even use 10mbit ethernet anymore. If you are a college student, you can walk up to almost any port and plug right in. Having a 10/100 card would be an absolute necessity:)
I doubt this: This might be how linux starts to dominate the desktop market.
I really find it hard to believe that Windows will cost $1000. I also find it hard to believe that you think that Linux will actually take over the desktop market. Windows will never cost $1000, it just isn't worth that kind of cash. Everyone knows it. People would most likely just stick to what they already have (there are still people running Win31 remember).
Just my.02 -- gotta cut it short, bar time:)

I myself am a quake addict. I have played quake for a long time on the PC. I tried it this summer on the PlayStation and couldn't handle the controller.. They are uncomfortable, cause calluses on your hands and fingers, and just are't as accurate as the mouse/kb. I know that you can purchase a mouse for the PS, but honestly, why would anyone want to use that seemingly HUGE controller that comes w/this new cube?
not usually no.. RC5 fills up the processors when I am not doing anything. I don't need to do much do I? I don't spend 100% of my time on my computer. I go out and get wasted:-) Now that, that is a way to waste time;)
yep. I took a look at it. I was not impressed. The features that are offered by E seemingly surpass those of Sawfish. I am not into LISP programming... I just want the damn thing to be useful and have a nice look. I have enough processor speed to waste and enough ram to waste so that E's normally slow pace doesn't have an affect on me. Now my opinion is justified.:)
even though he was offtopic I would consider what he said to be true. people troll after me all the time and think that they are either 1) funny or 2) cool. They are neither. It is nothing more than an annoyance for me, just another little link under my post. I really begin to wonder why they refuse to post w/o AC. I really think that they are actually scared to post their real name b/c they are worried I am going to give a fly fuck about what they said... I don't. If they are so fucking stupid as to follow around my posts and reply w/some stupid comment like: "you suck your mother's dick" or some such non-sense, they have a serious lack of intelligence and a serious lack of friends/life.

yep, you didn't get it w/a floppy. You also got it two years after I did. They dropped radically then. Doesn't matter. I got my money's worth from it.

Calibrating delay loop... 87.04 BogoMIPS
it is quite a bit faster than a p5-133. My p5-133 laptop got 53.04.

w/o voting stock, I am sure that non of that could happen...
they may not have voting stock, but that is a serious conflict of interest. what could MS possibly be interested in in buying Corel stock?

matter of opinion. E is the best, I have never even heard of Sawfish. As far as I am concerned GNOME can take a leap off a bridge too.
