In order for the email address to be "valid", under SPF, it'd have to be the mail server for the domain.

So, the spammer would have to send the spam, in bulk, FROM the user's computer, to their ISPs email server, for forwarding.

I don't know about you, but my email server is pretty indiscriminate about who's email it checks. Further, and I know I'm not alone in this, I use tarpitting, compiled in, in case my server ever does get rooted.

SPF is being adopted, because it's benifits are obvious. I, for one, would like to stop receiving these huge emails only to find out they're yet another email virus doing the rounds.

It'll cut down on problems where forged senders are the main symptom, dramatically. That both includes viruses ( virii ) and some spammers.

But, as is stated, it's completely possible for spammers to keep their dns records updated too.

However, were I to upgrade tomorrow, it'd be nvidia. I'm simply disgusted with ATI right now.

There is one subtle difference between linux and window admins: There is a lot of window software that is written to be run as administrator. Finding all the files to give permissions to causes quite a headache.

Linux, I feel, has a better system at the moment. However, as this is the developers fault, I see no reason why linux would be immune from this problem.

What if I want a semi-new package, but I don't want to crash my machine using it? Stable is a couple years stale already, unstable is just that, and testing says it all. That leaves me to compile from source, and if I'm going to do that, might as well use slack.

Package management under redhat/fedore has become much better. I don't often run into dependancy problems, and when I do, it's often because I'm trying to get an out of the way package that isn't in a yum repo. Which I can make myself, by the way, with little effort.
