The problem is how to be legally recognised as a seperate country. There have been several groups who have decided to take the easiest legal route, which is to declare war upon a country. Note that in the wikipedia article, the declaration of war is mentioned in the history section. The Australian government did not acknowledge these letters officially, as this would give creedence to the country's secession. They have issued their own coins, code of laws, and a tax rate of 0.5%.
There are many such countries out there, but what has not been done to date, is a serious quantity of land to be bought by a serious number of citizens, an army mounted, and a genuine declaration of war. This would seriously best be done in a place such as Africa or regions of South America where there are areas of land that can be bought at reasonable rates, whilst not being a pacific island that would hold difficulties in sustaining a substantial population.
Perhaps one day the need will be large enough for people to collectively leave and equitably found their own country, but don't forget, established countries will first scoff at a new country, possibly impose trade sanctions if they don't tow the line, and finally, simply declare war and "liberate" it from the "terrorists".
The issues of state are far removed from the issues of daily life.
Why is everyone obsessed at the number of cores? The more processors you ahve, the more complex scheduling your apps needs to perform to actually work faster. It's better to hav ea single core that is twice as fast, than two cores running in parallel.
Why wouldn't you turn the lights off during rush hour? More cars mean more car lights, which automatically illuminates substantial portions of the road, whereas during trough hours, there are few cars.
It would thus make more sense to not have lights during high traffic times.

I just came from a very large banking organization, and their business case for cloud is to set up a series of private cloud servers. It's not about putting everything on Amazon etc, but rather about putting the services into their own datacentres.
They will literaly save hundreds of millions in hardware and power bills, as they can consolidate tons of servers together. The reason? Most boxes that they current have, utilize 1% of network traffic, less than 1% of CPU, and about 10% of hard disk space. Why? Because every project has their own boxes for political reasons, for redundancy, and most importantly, so that when they saved $10,000/year on hardware, they didn't lose $1,000,000 because the service was unavailable for half a day.
Because private cloud means that you have an instant sandbox for your apps, over a number of servers that the app can freely be moved to, this is the driver behind adoption of the model.
Public cloud is laughable to them, as the public cloud providers can pry their data from the company's cold dead hands.
Not to mention the wonderful PR side effect of the company being "green".

It's very nice to be hysterical, but let me point out to you that countries like Switzerland don't have such issues. Not only do they have guns, but military grade guns, since most join the militia. People still get knifed quite regularly, and yet England is completely disarmed, both in weapons and in spirit. In fact, during the riots, our local neighbourhood antique dealers got knifed because he wouldn't hand over his phone to a pack of thugs. He was airlifted and barely survived, and these blokes are now on the street again. So since idiots with guns don't kill people, idiots with knives kill people. Before you laugh at a cliche, actually think about it for 30 seconds.
Let me give you one last piece of of wisdom, my strawman flinging friend. The true strength in a firearm, is not firing the weapon. It is the threat of discharging the weapon in a particular and controlled manner, in an appropriate situation that begets it's true power. If you have a truly educated populace, both in mind, and in firearm, it prevents any threat to the country and its culture as a whole from being enveloped, both from a threat from the outside, or a threat from within.
