I guess you haven't checked their quarterly reports lately. These kind of things might not be such a big loss for Sony but their most recent earnings report showed that it has hit a low that hasn't been reached in over 3 years.
I guess the good thing about the invisblog site being slashdotted offline is that they'll learn from their mistake have better servers next time around a 13 year old doesn't like what someone said on their site and decides to DDoS it.
My experiences with dreamweaver have been nice (i.e. Tables...PHEW, so much easier than by hand!)
Shouldn't you be using XHTML and CSS for layout instead of tables? This is really the future and makes sense as you're separating content from design.
The only thing you need tables for really is to show spreadsheet-type data and for that, there are better utilites to convert data to tables.
The Firebird DB team is beating around the bush on this one. The real reason they're going insane over Phoenix's namechange to Firebird is because they know they're going to lose the coveted #1 position in Google for the term "Firebird" very soon.
As soon as the Phoenix browser is released with the new name, it'll be linked through slashdot and hundreds of other weblogs, Mozilla fansites and news agencies. Then BAM! Google does it's dance and Firebird DB's position drops to #2 (or worse) in the Google search results.
I'm sure something like this would make anyone jealous.:)
A lot of people here are saying this would just be resource drain and basically just 'eyecandy' but: you don't know how much I've *wanted* this.
Being on a finite budget, I'm stuck with an 18" viewable monitor, so there's not enough space for everything. Being able to have my windows be (say) 80% opaque (20% transparent) so that I can see if anything changes in the window behind (a log tail for example) or if things _stop_ changing in the window behind (like a make or wget) would save me from my current practice, which is to have my windows shrunken enough that the bottom couple of lines of the window behind show underneath, and the bottom couple of lines of the one behind that underneath them, and so on and so forth. Sometimes I stack them five deep that way, and that can take away a fifth or more of the height of my screen.
With this enhancement I'll be able to tile those five background windows and then run my main window (a browser say) fullscreen in front of all of them and just slightly transparent.
I also want an always-on-top clock that's like 90% transparent.
So, thanks for doing this, and keep up the good work. I'm going to download it and try it out next week, after I get my desktop working again[1].
The place mentioned in the article, Santa Cruz, seems to me like the ideal place to live:
* Their librarians don't like the Patriot Act * "The City Council also passed a resolution condemning the Patriot Act" * "Santa Cruz is a community well known for its leftward leanings and progressive politics"
And as if that wasn't enough:
* "City officials allowed marijuana for medicinal purposes to be distributed from the steps of City Hall"
This is moderated +5 Funny but it really should be "Insightful". I would donate to this site just as I have for many other sites if it weren't for the sheer idiocy that is sometimes displayed by the editors here.
This was funny the first couple times but now it's just pathetic.
How hard is it to goto sharp.com and click on the Zaurus link or google for it? Maybe you should be a bit less lazy instead of accusing the reviewer of doing the same.
And sorry, I owned a Palm M125 till I got this machine from HSN and compared to graffiti, the handwriting recognition on this machine is excellent. It actually recognizes the natural way that people write(!) instead of requiring you to learn a supposedly-patent-infringing writing (graffiti version 1).
And if you're adamant about using Grafiti, you can train the handwriting recognition on the Zaurus to use that instead.
THe mic input on the 5500 is monaural (not stereo). It is a hardware limitation of the input connector only. 22khz is enough for voice recording for which it was intended.
This shouldn't affect you however since you'll be using the input on the CF card itself.
I'm posting this anonymously because, well, I just feel that way. I suppose I don't feel like giving information that could tie my various online personas together.
The screenshots of everything from the installer (Anaconda) to the KDE and Gnome desktop style (bluecurve) and icons (bluecurve icons again) are all virtually identical to Redhat 8.0/8.1.
Am I missing something or is this just a Redhat port for the PPC?
I found slashdot relatively ugly to look at with the default Mozilla fonts on my Gentoo box also.
/. very nicely.
But then I got the free Bitstream fonts and changed Mozilla to use those instead. They look excellent--very legible, and renders

There's a Palm Zire 71 Review at PDABuzz.

More information on SCO, it's lawsuit, the many boycotts against it and why they aren't exactly the ideal company can be found here.

Sounds like a utopia.

There is a thread in the Gentoo forums about this.
Video 'proof' of the exploits can be viewed here and here.
You can also download the 007 save games that are required to run this exploit and view additional instructions on how to get it running.
Thanks for the tip. I haven't broken my stylus (or lost it) yet but this Tungsten tip will definitely come in handy.
Use openZaurus then. It writes the PIM info to flash RAM which won't go away unless ou do a hard reset.

If not, let's find a way and submit it to
Actually they do have a cell phone infrastructure and from what I hear, it works quite well.
One of the reasons why codenames are used is because the companies often aren't sure what version number/name they will release their software as.
Take a look at the so-called Redhat 8.1 release for example. They recently decided to change it to 9.0. It's codename Phoebe however still applies.
Not true. For file access within Mandrake, NTFS support has always been read only as writing is currently experimental and dangerous.
However, NTFS resizing is supported by Mandrake as the sourceforge NTFS team found a way to resize NTFS partitions safely.
