    One of my HP machines had a similar setup where Windows 98 (one of my older machines) was distributed as an image on 2 "HP Recovery CDs".

    To install Linux on these boxes, I simply resized the Windows 98 partition down to 2 GB and used the other 16GB of freespace to install Linux.

    Last year, record label Sony Music came under fire when new European CD releases by artists Celine Dion and Shakira wouldn't play....
    Is this really a bad thing? I mean Shakira may be semi-decent but Celine Dion not playing? Who's going to miss that? Chrysler?

    Sure the government, RIAA, MPAA or such could use it against you. But, it can also be beneficial to you. Invision this:

    Your house gets raided. Your computers are confiscated as evidence. To most people this would come as a surprise and you'd have no time to destroy the data on your drives.

    But if you had Theftguard and whoever took it happens to plug your PC into a network, you can format your drive yourself. ;-)

    And since the software stays in the BIOS, you could actually tell it to format a couple dozen times just to make sure the data is completely unrecoverable.

    <I'm not condoning this action of course.>

    Patches? Bah. The true test of video cards is glxgears.

    So here now is my benchmark results for the Geforce 2 MX 64MB on a P4 @ 2.4Ghz with Gentoo 1.4rc4:
    bash-2.05b$ glxgears
    3961 frames in 5.0 seconds = 792.200 FPS
    3971 frames in 5.0 seconds = 794.200 FPS
    4028 frames in 5.0 seconds = 805.600 FPS
    4386 frames in 5.0 seconds = 877.200 FPS
    Amazing isn't it?

    There's plenty of PODs already available. They're called Playboy, Hustler, Maxim, etc.

    Just roll em up and stick em in your pocket. Open when ready to use. Oh and they have excellent battery life.

    If you RTFA, you'd see:
    The software giant views the $100 or so it loses on each Xbox as the price of entry to compete against Sony's dominant PlayStation 2 gaming console.
    So yes, they're losing money on each of these. So go buy one. But just don't buy a game. :)

    I've already said this above but Longhorn does not use openGL to accelate it's GUI--it uses DirectX 9.

    so it's not in the same league as stuff like the Longhorn UI or E17's EVAS, which can actually use OpenGL to accelerate visually complex drawing
    Longhorn uses DirectX 9 for it's GUI acceleration -- not openGL.

    Not trying to flamebait but it'll be a cold day in hell when Microsoft uses openGL over it's own DirectX technology.

    Getting rid of xul(xml user interface language) would be good for responsive gui.
    There is a GTK patch for Mozilla. If you have Gentoo, it's included in the ebuild and getting your GTK2 interface is as simple as doing:
    WANT_GTK2="yes" emerge mozilla
