Sophistry aside, that quote comes from a fund-raising letter that Walden O'Dell (CEO of Diebold) wrote on behalf of the Republican party.

While your reasoning holds up in a vacuum, a cursory glance at the context should make his meaning obvious.

    1) I'm pretty sure people are voting for things other than the Presidency where the available options are not as immediately recognizable to a non-English speaker as 'George W. Given how patriotic new citizens tend to be, it strikes me as a shame to exclude someone who recently arrived on our fair shores. That said, mechanical voting does seem to be the best option currently.

The military's budget need not remain constant to maintain a constant level of 'security'. Consider that the threat of terrorism is very different from the threat of the Soviet Union. The military budget at the start of Clinton's term (assuming that Bush 1 didn't reduce it during his term) was at cold war levels. Clinton simply responded to the change in the nature and scale of the threat.

Having said that, I am making a ton of assumptions here that may not bear out in fact. For instance, is fighting terrorism cheaper than a nuclear arms race? I would guess that it is (or should be), but what do I know? YMMV.

One keys to success on the web is the stickiness of your page. Given the ease with which one can close their browser or move to a different page, asking anything much of your user is poor practice at best. Certainly, asking that they switch browsers is out of bounds.

You may have the best soup in town - if that's the case, be a soup nazi. Given the way the web works, though, it is somewhat safe to say that someone else can compete with you on quality. I find it difficult to believe your posts are anything other than (too) lengthy trolls, but on the off-chance you are serious, you may call me callous, but I am not going to be 'ashamed' over web design or browser use. And I'm certainly not going to 'spit in [my employer's] face' over it.

I am really not trying to troll here, but in all honesty, you are quite a bit closer to the bleeding edge than most (and I'm a little jealous) so you have to expect that the edge is, well, farther from the center.

I would imagine that its not the end of your world that you can't use Real / Flash on your machine - if you're like me, you probably question the worth of most media in those formats.
