If you're using XP, say yes to "turn on indexing to make future searches faster".
If you're using Office, turn on the fast find feature, edit the properties to include all files, then use the "open office document" UI to find your files.
It seems that GDS isn't a native windows app (according to the writer) because it is actually a webserver app running in the background that you interface with via your browser, much like Google itself.
As such, it doesn't allow some of the bonus features you get out of programming in the MFC, like extra bugs and crashes and misery trying to keep track of callbacks and validation.
What would be *really* interesting is if Sony made software to rip DVD videos to play on the PSP. I know its doable by ripping to mp4 to memory stick, but what about on the discs? How much would fit with good compression?
Professional emotional detachment is a very difficult thing to achieve and most often a hoax. As long as you pretend to be detached and act like you're detached, you're fine in most cases.
In reality, people who *care* about other people will not be detached.
I'm sick of hearing about lowly innovators losing money. Most of them aren't -- to file sharers at least. What people fail to realize is that in a vast majority of cases, the people copying works *would not have* purchased them. Get over it. It may still be illegal, but you're not losing money. Secondly, your bigger concern if you're a small innovator is the big companies that will attempt to rip you off. I come from a family of inventors who've had many patents ripped off by big name companies who change enough of their version of a device to get around the patent and then don't pony up a cent.
Those same companies would sue you into the ground for coming anywhere near their "innovations".
I remember growing up with a one hour/day limit of TV watching.
I spent lots of time outside with friends, building forts, playing in the local park, etc.
I've noticed around where I live now though that most new development neighbourhoods don't include park space or a corner store zoning or any open space to play at all for kids. Most homes have 6' of backyard if that.
I still think HTTP 1.2 should include the rsync protocol. If a website changes, it usually changes very little. My proxy / browser cache should say "I have version 1.1, what's new?" and the webserver should say "Here's the whole thing" or "Here's the two line diff".
But I do leave out fakes for collection. Any sender to one of my fake addresses is reported (to spamcop) and has their sending IP blocked automatically for 72 hours (or until they get off of bl.spamcop.net thereafter).
In other words, periodically rotating the IP address your MX record points to might be worthwhile.
Its not hard to move your mail server from a.b.c.d to a.b.c.d+1 for a week, then back again, and so on, with proper DNS expiry information and leaving it on both IPs for 24 hours or so in between.
I've been known to rip my daughter's Dora movies onto DVD-RWs that instant-start without the ads or intro screens. She knows how to put them in the player herself, and it auto-plays, but operating the remote control at the menus is a bit advanced still.
I know the studios look at the price of manufacture, but what about the fact that they release 3 and 4 DVD sets these days, sometimes 9 or more discs in a package. BD would mean using less discs than HD-DVD for longer movies or collections.
I want a high-definition format for video. I don't want them to produce only HD versions of videos, and they won't for a few years (think VHS when DVDs came out). However, DVD quality blows compared to going to a theatre, and for those of us who want to stay home and watch with our families, HD-DVD or BD is going to make that happen.
Its been well established that most BluRay players will be able to play both DVDs and BD format discs. You won't have to buy new DVDs at all, just your new BD DVDs will be in a higher quality format.
Walkthroughs are a great way to review a game before playing it. Granted, they don't come out for a while after a game is released, you can read the "what you have to do to beat level 1" quickly and decide if that's the type of game you want to play.
"Go get wood, bring wood back, get more wood, bring wood back, get amulet, give amulet to girl, throw girl in lake..." sounds boring to me. If I read that, I go for a different game.
Cell phones are amazing in Japan. Cell phones here suck in comparison. Don't even tell me how cool you think your phone is until you've used a Japanese current model cell phone.
I know a large number of people with modded Xboxes all to be able to run media software that lets them play videos/mp3s over the network like a PVR without recording capabilities.
None of the people in question pirate games to my knowledge at all.
Sure, some people rip off games -- they will anyway -- a modded Xbox has lots of legitimate uses as well.

How long till Apple releases iVid?
Downloadable feature-length (or shorter?) movies.
If I could buy those movies online and download them with BitTorrent I probably would. They'd better be cheaper than the DVDs though.

I'd rather have a Novell admin with me than a Windows admin any day.
Of course I was painting with a broad brush. This isn't a dissertation wherein I have the time to dissect each potential Mac user's personality.

Don't attack your potential customers.
Last I checked, most P2P apps say that you shouldn't copy copyrighted materials without permission.

Mac users probably aren't the types to bother.
I've always liked Macs, but never bought one because I hate the lock-in.
True Mac users seem to like the fact that Apple and only Apple makes good products for the Mac (Microsoft Office aside).
I agree with everything except your "small country" comment.
Unless you're speaking of the landmass and not the population that is. According to the CIA world factbook:
Population:
Definition Field Listing Rank Order
127,333,002 (July 2004 est.)
Versus the United States:
Population:
Definition Field Listing Rank Order
293,027,571 (July 2004 est.)
So whoopie, the USA is a whole double the population of a country smaller than California.
I don't use obfuscation at all.

That's worth quite a savings I'd bet.

It seems that for Firefox users it might in fact be a red herring to some degree.
Firefox may be allowing the "dangerous" behaviour only when the resulting window is actually a child of the original window.
This would make sense to some degree, but cross-domain scripting prevention should still kick in.

McBride seems to like suing competitors and past customers. The DCCA is suing a current customer. That's really stupid.
