funny I have to recompile my kernel, X.org, and randr just to partially support one of my monitors. I keep downloading the latest versions to test it out and I still don't have support even though the company who makes the monitors released 100% of their drivers as open source to allow linux support 3 years ago. I am not a driver/kernel hacker so I have to wait and wait and wait, just like everything else in the open source world 5-10 years behind the tech curve.
Even andriod tablets are a year behind the ipad and nothing on the seeable horizon will compare. my best hope is notion ink's Adam. that looks awesome, now I just have to wait for them to actually build it instead of hype it for 3 years.
I agree with everything you said. it is why I own a MBP as well. my only complaint about Apple now a days is itunes.
itunes is now a file manager, media player, customized web browser, and sync application. It is getting a bit too bloated turning into the IE6 of this decade. If apple would seperate the Media player, store, and sync application then itunes could be a good app. instead they keep shoving more and more crap into one application. The apps can even use shared libraries, but the one of two things that is holding me off an ipad which is the form factor I have been wanting for literally 8 years now, is the fact to edit a word processing file on an ipad you have to sync it with itunes in a very convoluted way. The other is Flash. while I am in full agreement with steve jobs on mobile flash(look up the honest reviews of it so far) it is needed for many of today's websites.
The current realm of thinking is now, go to the local community college for two years, get all those stupid basic classes out of the way for ~$5000 a year. Drink party have fun. Then go to a full on university and actually study your main college courses. with the perquisites out of the way you can concentrate, and you already had the best years of under age partying done with. Not to mention you were smarter than the college and saved tons of money.
MILEAGE IS UNLIMITED WHEN TRAVELING EAST OF THE MISSISSIPI RIVER AND THE CANADIAN PROVINCES OF ONTARIO AND QUEBEC. IF TRAVELING OUTSIDE OF THESE AREAS, MILEAGE IS CHARGED AT 150 MILES FREE PER DAY AND.30 CENTS FOR EACH ADDITIONAL MILE FOR THE ENTIRE RENTAL.
Hertz had something similar the last time i actually read the fine print. But that was several years ago.
because unlike HTML PDF prints the same every time?
There is a reason why every major printer/press uses PDF. because of postscript it prints the same way every time. no other document format today does that.
what I wish is that it didn't take the full version of adobe to make PDF forms. That you could make them just as simply as one makes regular PDF's
Then why do courts allow the term intellectual property in court documents? Since it has no legal definition it should either be defined or banned for legal use.
While i agree with you as I do that myself when I need to rent a truck, there is a mark difference in renting a Truck for a day and staying under the local mileage limits and renting a car for a day and paying by the mile.
It goes to show that you haven't had to go to a car rental place recently.
Also you can't rent RV's very easily. Most require special driver's licenses as they get treated like buses.
I am well known to drive the 90 miles (each way) to have dinner with my mother, play a round of golf with my father, and then drive home. On sundays i drive 60 miles just to spend a couple of hours having fun.
I am also only 8 miles from work, but then twice I week I drive 40 miles a day for other things. two or three times a year I drive 400 miles each way to visit my sister.
At the end of the year I only average 10k miles a year, however if I can't getup and go 200+ miles that day the car is useless for me.
yep all we need now is a viable power storage tech so you know can go more than 50-100 miles without needing a 6 plus hour recharge. Until we can find a power source capable of driving an electric car 200 miles at highway speeds they will be just a gimmick.
no they all do, the active glasses while greater than the glassless tv's is still quite limited and once you get beyond a 45 degree angle view quailtly drops to that of 1970's tech.
That the trick you can't show it off. The field of view and range of 3D TVs is very poor you have to sit in a certian area that is smaller than the average couch and they lose effectiveness if your too far away or too close.
Anyone outside the bounds get distortions.
On top of the fact some 10-20% of population will get headaches/sick/etc from viewing such things.or if you don't have enough glasses youhave to watch the movie in 2D anyways. 3D TV with glasses is just stupid. 3D TV without glasses is about a decade out of realistic use. Current tech can only show images to 2,3 people at a time and in a smaller area than with glasses.
So apples engineers who designed the altvec coprocessor, apples design specific hardware that allowed for true plug in play. And currently apples purchase of pa semi conductor which designs the A4 processor (a slightly modified arm).
Apple has a long history of custom designing hardware. Then those designers work with the software people to get more computing power out of a given spec.
That sounds like they are vertically integrated to me. They may not design every aspect but why reinvent the monitor?
He has no other tools he is limited in how he can use those tools(military has deployed duration limits without approval )
If you don't follow his recommendations(order) the only thing he can do is sue you. (lawyers)
We act like the president has power but years of abuse has crippled it. Vietnam was a presidential action. Sincethen the president can only deploy guerrilla for60 days without congressional approval.
The president can only directly fire people he appoints everything else isprotected againist one party going crazy and firing the other party.
So basically every thing you said can't actually be done
bullshit. you have no recourse if you asked a lawyer in a bar about legal advice, act on said advice and get burned by it.
just like you have no recourse if you ask a car mechanic about a funny noise at your local coffee shop, only to find out the it was something else entirely.
The same is true for all skilled professions, from carpenter to lawyer, from doctor to plumber, unless they see it with their own eyes they can only go by what they are told is happening. The average person misses a lot of little details in their general descriptions that can change the end outcome drastically.
I deal with electrcians, and home owners daily about electrical problems. Some of the questions I get asked by the average person scare me that this person would even attempt to touch a breaker in their panel. I used to keep a collection of what happens when a home owner gets the idea into their head they can save money by doing it themselves, and burn down their addition/house/garage.
You pay someone not only for what they know but to see the details your inexperience misses. You aren't held accountable if they didn't tell you the complete details.
notepad has size limitations forget what it is but I have hit it on several occasions.
though for command line editing I always preferred nano. the interface commands make sense when dealing in a mix UI environment and you don't want to learn the OS of emacs.
Of course if you don't realize you joined a terrorist group on face book because your friends signed you up for it, and then have trouble getting on a plane. Sorting out who, what, where, and when your friends helped you out can be difficult.
you don't know when to unfriend some one until it is almost to late.
When I bought my iPhone 3G it came with iOS 2.0. Now it isrunning iOS 4.1. I didn't have to pay anything(that's only iPod touch devices). I didn't have to wait 2-12 months for the updates after they were announced.
I am looking at andriod phones and one that I was interested in, onethat was released new in June is still running 2.1 with no plans by the company to upgrade it to froyo. That is market fragmentation. When officail updates are withheld on products only a couple of months old when it was released with an older OS to begin with. Apple has never with held an update of older hardware if that hardware could run the update. Apple also supports that hardware for 6-7 years. The iPhone is reduced to 3 years however that is 2 years longer than motorola, htc are supporting their andriod phones.
MSFT has had a Tablet OS for almost a friggin decade and they have yet to port over their most useful applications to a touch based interface.
Why does it take Apple to finally pull all the parts together in both hardware and software and show the computer world how to do things like create products customers demand.
You can't control access to information(design specs in this case) indefinitely. I like to think of it as probabilities. Once someone figures out how to do something new(build a fission bomb,ICBM, etc). Even if you don't tell anyhow youdid it eventually some one else knowing that it is indeeed probable to accomplish will eventuallyfigure out how you did it.
Once something has gone from improbable to a known working model. Everyone else attempting todo the same thing now knowing it can be done will find the answer as well.
I know people with ipads who would never ever own a Mac computer. I would own one myself except I actually would need flash on it for the tasks I intend to accomplish.
However given the real performance of flash on android devices, and that flash as a web browser plugin requires direct hardware access in order to function at acceptable speeds, I do understand Apple's vocal position.
I am patiently waiting the year it takes for everyone else to catch up to apple's first generation productions.

with the evil bit set, does that mean no windows machines can use the internet?
that would shut down 99.99999% of the botnets out there over night.
notepad has size limitations forget what it is but I have hit it on several occasions.

so what happens when they force 3D down our throats?
widescreen 3D tv's that you can't actually use for all. yea!!!!!!!!!
ooh good point it should be mostly self repairing too. The safest place from attack would be high in the sky.
we can call it SkyNet, and give it our past, present, and future.
well that explains where the smell comes from.

so LSD is a requirement for an RDF?
That actually makes sense.
