want to know a hint? 90% of people will never upgrade their computer beyond ram and Hard drives.
laptops should show you the truth of that. by the time a computer is old enough to start upgrading parts the entire system is generally not worth it. cpus generally need new motherboards.
I use macs precisely because once I max out the ram the machine will last long enough(4-5 years) that by the time I want to upgrade again I might as well buy a whole new machine. simply because of CPU upgrades alone.
I have built my own machines. I have run windows, and Linux. I have bought from Dell, apple, IBM, and Acer. In the end you have to find a machine that works the way you do. I don't have to fuss with my Macs. I don't have to tweak them. I don't have to download driver updates that crash out the machine(windows and Linux) to maintain what i already have.
Everyone is different. Like some people like to tweak their cars some geeks like to tweak their computers. Some like spending their money on fancy stuff, but most prefer to buy a mid priced car that just works with minimal maintenance.
Pull your head out of your ass about cell companies screwing American's. AT&T is GSM, verizon is Cdma of one type, sprint is CDMA of another incompatible type. This isn't Europe where everyone uses GSM. In order to switch GSM carriers in the USA you have a chploice of at&t or tmobile in some cities. Tmobile for me is as useful as using posion ivy leaves for toliet paper.
You need a whole other phone if you want to use verizon or sprint.
I notice that the other day. IE is acting up on a computer at work. (randomly crashes even when it isn't running, it is windows so who knows what it is really doing). So I downloaded firefox by windows ftp. I was annoyed when it didn't show any status
Of course why coworker were shocked that it was possible to do it that way to begin with.
yes but can your car do it straight up? 0-100mph in 10 seconds isn't impressive. 0-100 straight up(not down every car can do that)is what is impressive.
Other than copy & paste my other daily pet peeve is Easy Bluetooth on/off. My Bluetooth headset is built into my car. Not having to charge it makes me happy. However I leave Bluetooth off most of the time I am at work to conserve battery life in the phone.
So I leave work with bt off, get a call and struggle to activate it. What I want is simple. Easier ways to turn features as they are.
I happen to agree with you, but his statement was worded that gangs use grenades and ak-47's to randomly kill and shoot at each other. they blow things up.
yet the death toll is relatively minor compared to that of a war zone.
i routinely tell people to find what they want in BB or CC, and then go to amazon online and get that exact item number. They are usually shocked by how much they save. When my sister wanted a new HDMI cable for the new blue ray player I convinced her the $60 that BB wanted wasn't worth it. She ordered the exact model from amazon for $20, passing up on other even less expensive versions.
BB though is struggling itself. every time i walk into one it is poorly laid out, with 90% of the customers confined to a quarter of the store. If they can't figure out something simple like how to layout a store to get people to walk around it then they won't get very far when real competition sets in.
Other than cut and paste which is the only feature i do miss, I don't see why people want background apps. I don't want the world to know that just because my phone is on they can IM me all day long.
The point is battery life. I can go two full days between charges with 3G on, calls, occasional bluetooth(it is only on when i am in the car ) and wifi when it is available. 3G 90% of the time, when i am home or at a place with wifi for a while I turn it on.
My other phones would last 3-4 days between charges, however I never surfaced the web or played games on them.
exactly. if you pirate movies are music make sure you get the online free version instead of the half price fake cd/dvd version.
In fact Organized crime would most likely love to have online P2P stopped. their low prices can't beat free.

actually I think brick and mortar stores will evolve a bit. some games, dvd's and tv shows will still be sold in stores(and online mail order). Simply so one will have archive storage that hard drives don't easily duplicate.
Your bypassing the horrible part. Hulu and other shows are desgined for NTSC quality. 600x400 by out putting it to a regular tv you match resolutions and quality that the orginial broadcast had. I output to my hd tv and set it to 4:3 aspect for similar effect. However you can notice the lack of quality at monitor resolutions.
two problems with MSFT is that the research products almost never make it to real products that people can use, and once they are approved MSFT marketing sink their teeth into them until the cool products gets squirted out like a brown zune.
I don't think there is any engineer at MSFT who isn't smart or clever. after all they keep windows going that has got to require massive amount of creative hacking.
The Last power point presentation I saw, was at an awards banquet. Everyone was at least slightly drunk, but even with 4 glasses of rum and a full belly of food I could barely sit and watch power point.
Maybe you should get the facts before opening your mouth. Less than 5% of the mortages failed.
The banks however over extended themselves with the hope of using future profit to pay past due debt. Think of it this way. Balance your budget so you can pay all your bills. Now go max out your credit cards, take a second mortage and buy a couple more cars. Does it make sense? If so you have a future in banking, or government.
Damn straight. do you know how heavy all those politicians in DC are? Do you know how hard it is to get them to do anything, let alone transporting them. Heck some even require their own planes.
it is simple Wired was just fulfilling a contract obligation they have when they bought windows corporate licensing from MSFT. Isn't it obvious that it came out at the same time that Ballmer stated that the Iphone wasn't going anywhere, even though the iphone is selling more units by itself than all windows mobile handsets combined?
Or maybe i should loosen the tinfoil around my neck and head.
yes it is high 14 out of some 600 astronauts. then again the shuttle itself is like sitting on a barrel of firecrackers and lighting them.
Considering how we get into space I would say the 2.5% rate really isn't bad(similar to russia's too). Space travel is currently a very dangerous way to fly and it's realities are what is limiting commercial development.

crap when did iraq move to another planet?
Or did the military get annoyed at 24 hours and made it a standard 25 when i wasn't looking?
what really gets me is that they are building uav's which can loiter at 65,000 on solar power. why use a much slower dirigible?

Well then do you consider Hamas a gang or a military. They fire hundreds a rockets yet rarely cause deaths with said attacks.
According to your statement they are no more than a street gang.
That was my thought. I figured that the ISS could hold 12 max.
Soyez can hold 3. I would love to know how they put 18 in there.

that i have AT&T and they won't ever try to abuse me.
Excuse me now I have to go reset my sarcasm meter. for some reason it gets pegged all the time now.

I thought that human stupidity had no limits. After all look at the number of people who eat at mcdonalds
No they just charge you for the privillege of reading your own work on your own device.
the only thing about that is linus usually gives you a couple of really awesome quotes. you would be better if you had said RMS.
Damn straight. do you know how heavy all those politicians in DC are? Do you know how hard it is to get them to do anything, let alone transporting them. Heck some even require their own planes.
Oh wrong kind of DC.
I still agree with you though.

At least Iran has more than 15 last names unlike west Virginia.
Yes and no.
