    your quite right pages doesn't work very well.

    then again the ODF spec is less than 500 pages, and spent two years going through the ISO.

    So if you can do everything OOXML does in 500 pages worth of spec, why does it need those 5000 odd pages?

    actually that's inaddition to the 6,000 pages for the OOXML spec since the OOXMl spec references that data.

    that i my thought. how can you be certain that the app your running is the same one that was compiled with the source available.

    Personally I am waiting for someone to give me my own personal cloud. I like the concepts but I want the data stored on my own server that I control. that I can connect to with any device I choose.

    um what DRM? there is no DRM n the hardware. Apple simply uses the intel upgraded version of the 80's piece of shit tech of BIOS. it is Called EFI and any OS that supports booting from EFI can load on a Mac.

    BIOS like PS/2 ports are outdated but stick around because that is all MSFT supports well.

    installing hardware in most macbooks does require someone with OCD though. there are lot's of little screws to be undone. My question is how many people actually upgrade memory or hard drives in laptops? by the time they go bad in most cases it is 5-7 years later. It is like large tower computers with dozens of ports for upgrades that rarely if ever get used.

    2) you get a nationwide flat rate roaming plan. you can go anywhere in the uSA and it only uses up normal minutes. bonus long distance is essentially free, you can make calls across the country for the same price.

    3) 3G coverage in the USA sucks at best. which means only major cities if your lucky.

    It is already beginning. I submit the EEpc, OLPC, and the sudden burst of real computers with real OS''s being shipped for under $400 right now Windows is holding back more development than anything else, especially with the intel atom processor. sorry you can't get a $100 OS onto a $400 device.

    why do you think msft is still selling XP for only low powered devices that Vista couldn't run on if it went on a diet. Why do you think MSFT is intentionally trying to limit the specs of such devices when they are already as powerful as any computer of 6 years ago?

    Can i saw one minor nitpicking point.

    More species have died in the millions of years before man than exist currently.

    Life goes on, whatever forms it may take it always goes on. massive ice age, a planet that is warm enough for the dinosaurs to come back Life will go on.

    Unless you plan on living forever you won't see any of it either. no matter what happens.

    That is actually one of the things that I hope for. There are too many people who think they are important on this world. a good solid flood to cleanese the earth or other major disaster is what will bring us back on track. maybe next time we can get it right from the start.

    I just want the stinky messy cities of the world that sit a few feet above the ocean level to be rinsed clean. Sure millions will die, but we have a few billion to back them up.

    Maybe i am cold hearted. or maybe i built my house 1000 feet above the oceans and hundreds of miles inland and want some nice beach front property. Sort of like what will happen to vegas if California ever breaks free.

    yet oddly Firefox is gaining market share. Slower now than a year or two ago but it is still gaining market share with all versions of IE going down.

    How can it be moving on interia alone when it is still gaining ground? It isn't accelerating as it once was but it has by no means stopped.

    I use safari primarily at home, and FF2 at work since i can't run FF3. FF though with adblock is the best. with safari I use a custom CSS to strip out most ads to make the web usable.

    yep BBC america isn't bad. Also Fox is just one, cnn, ABC, CBS, NBC, are the real main news stations with fox falling somewhere near john stewart. who of course isn't real just another talk show host who makes fun of politics.

    it is from the antitrust files so it is legitimate.

    What really gets me isn't the movie maker install that everyone seems to focus on is that it shows just how much of friggin idiot Bill Gates is.

    While running outlook he receives an email and needs to look up a date on a calendar. No big deal. instead of using the calendar in outlook which is already running, the idiot double clicks on the clock on the taskbar to bring up the system time settings dialog box and then complains when windows says you have to be an admin to bring up the system time settings dialog box.

    Think about it. your running an email and calendaring app and what do you do first to bring up a calendar? go to the system settings?

    it doesn't make sense at all. I would really like to know how many people go to their system settings for a calendar?

    I point out the Pippin, Apple tv, Cube, newton, an a bunch of others that i forget. 2 of which were done under the Jobs himself.

    Apple can't sell just anything. even if it does have some cool features(apple TV).

    As another poster pointed out if you could hook the screens up on the fly(usb/IR/bluetooth) So they could work together in tandem, when next to each other or on different documents when separated it would be really useful.

    you could carry a small book with the notes on it, but two or three people could join up on a larger project. Potentially with different sized screens too.

    Funny Apple is setting Snow Leopard to be nothing more than a new software stack, removing old features, and a general code clean up. Apple will sell snow leopard for full price and people will pay for stabilty that the new system will bring. You can do under the hood changes and get people to buy.

    you don't need glitz and glamour if your selling a quality product. putting makeup on pigs never makes sense.

    That's not a bad idea. though it might be too far from shore to benefit much from tidal, it s worth a look.

    I would build the intended item in question and then start to modify it, mixing, adding and rearranging pieces until I was happy for a week or two.

    Lego the ultimate toy for those with ADD. It is never done.
