actually theres been some effort to try and get mythtv to build on a mac. whether that mac runs mac os x or linux is another issue. i couldnt even tell you how far along it is, you should ask on mythtv-users. keep in mind though, that these are meant to be cheap standalone boxes, so unless you have an old mac lying around, i wouldnt install it on a new one or your main computer.
Unfortunately, MythTV took its first real stumble at DVD playback. Using the machine that we installed from scratch in Part I of the analysis, we had zero issues playing DVDs. Under KnoppMyth, the DVD completely refused to play. We would hear the DVD start up, spin and then just hang. Part of this may have to do with copy-protection, part of it may have to do with poorly constructed code. In either case, we can't watch "Nip Tuck" on the KnoppMyth machine without some serious changes to the install. The ability to make changes to KnoppMyth after it has already been installed is one quality that it severely lacks.
i dont think they relized mythtv cant play dvds, you need to setup xine/mplayer to do it (or maybe knoppmyth has a default setting or something). and this is one of the huge features i wish mythtv had. xine functions alright, but it is difficult to setup and sometimes weird things happen like the windows manager will keep mythtv on top while the dvd plays underneath. how i dream of mythtv coming with out-of-the-box dvd/vcd play capibilities. (note mythvideo can be used to files by using the 'internal' setting). otherwise im keeping mythtv. and another note: the brand new.16 release has a revised menu layout which is much more intuitive over the previous version. maybe if they did an update to the article it would be a more accurate comparison. also anyone who hasnt tried out the purple galaxy theme (not yet updated to.16) or the ithmus OSD, should really check those out. They are IMHO much more professional looking than the default look.
there are a number of clever idea's about how to deal with it including one which disposes of it in the giant fusion reaction that is our Sun.
except everyone is way too afraid to put anything radioactive on a rocket. what happens if it explodes and rains down radioactive waste upon a city? i agree however that fear of nuclear power is exaggerated. the only reason china is building plants and the US is not, is because no one wants one in their backyard. in china they dont have much choice in what the government determines for them.
i found a picture of what the PSXs menus look like (not sure if thats from the final product). However i wonder if the added cost of a 3d chip will really help push more units for Sony. I mean does anyone care how cool the menu looks? I know personally when purchasing something like a new tv, i read alot of reviews and tend to look at something like picture quality and price as the main selling points. but then i know some people who bought new cell phones so they could get a camera, so maybe im wrong.
if only Square would rerelease FF6, I'd be all set
you mean for GBA right? because they did already release it for playstation. however i couldnt recommend it because the loading times were outrageous. there is a translated rom floating around if you want to play it on an emulator though
well it must have been floating around for a while because i had the rom for some reason. i quickly loaded it and took some screenshots in case you want to see what it looks like
Most average joes i know didnt even get a dvd player because of the additional features or the better picture quality. no it was just because video rental stores started carrying dvds instead of vhs tapes! the moral of the story: if they want to push HDDVD, get blockbuster to buy in.
You will not remember anything about seeing Men In Black 7.
I wish i couldnt remember anything about seeing the first two, thats for sure.
But seriously, how many people hate Orin Hatch at this point? he seems to sell out to about any company gives him money. i wish this guy would just go away.
Then you obviously don't have kids. If I had $49.95 for each disc my kid has managed to ruin, I'd be rich. Oh wait, that's why I'm not rich.
you relize alot of places offer replacements for damaged discs. you have to return the actual disc and its only good for a replacement of the same product. i feel bad for you if you actually respent the $50.
FYI, he was referring to the episode of Star Trek Voyager, where they test out the new engine technology on the shuttle. It goes Warp 10 which apparently causes 2 of the characters to "evolve" into gecko-like creatures. another completely ridiculous plot that took place around the time of the episode where they found Amelia Earhart
it wouldnt come out for portable devices. these things need to switch into lower power mode when you arent using them. SNES has a 9MHz? processor so its not going to do all that good. not even sure if it has a floating point processor. dvd players probably dont have great processors either, a separate chip for mpeg decoding to make them cheaper.
so, you just have to choose which one to run on your computer. probably once we are saturated with these things, it will be very hard for researchers to get anyone to run the screensaver at all!

thats probably because for most purposes B is fine. i mean who is going to spend more on G when typical internet speeds never even reach 11Mps? G maybe is fine for the office or home where you are talking to local servers or other clients, but starbucks doesnt need more than a B.
actually the reason they want to keep ie around and in use is because of the features going specifically into longhorn. like activex/avalon integration. this stuff is eventually create lockin if alot of people start developing in it.
popups are successful, however probably only to the people out there that dont care about them. people who go out of their way to block them (and yes blocking is off by default in SP2) are just going to be annoyed at the whole deal. i say you can keep popups but dont try to find fancy ways around them. one recent thing ive seen is when you click on a link, it also has has a popup in the mouseup attribute which brings up a window. damn annoying and i refuse to ever buy anything advertised in one of those windows.
to add to that Orge Battle. its a different game than tactics ogre although the story was similar (by the same people). ogre battle is a rare game not many people have played. it was originally released for the snes and a special edition was released for the playstation. not only did it have different endings, the games difficulty actually changed based on how good you were doing. it has a system of characters which you evolve to better characters, that i havent seen used in another game. i definitely recommend it! dont be put off by its low score on gamespot
here are millions of machines with Java runtimes pre-installed
what sucks is that those are old versions of java. i want to write in j2 and i dont want to even bother with the older stuff. which means you would have to install an update in those machines anyway. i dont understand why sun couldnt work out a deal in the recent settlement to get a new version of java bundled in. it would have helped java in the long haul.
there arent any screeners available for that movie yet, its mislabed. but all a telesync is is a cam with an external audio source (ie the handicapped seat). but you are right in that the people recording usually are in on it with the projectionist. these people arent the same people who leak the stuff on the internet, these people are in the business and sell the copies on the street. the people who release on the internet just pick up the copies off the street and release them.
France also has a great reprocessing system, which would be a great idea for this nuclear waste problem.
maybe im just a newbie, but can someone explain why i would need a 64-bit processor on a machine with just 512mb of ram?

i generally agree with your comment

That is, can the card decode 64QAM and 256QAM?
it says in the article it can decode both
Maybe if they would have used Intel processors in their servers.
Zing!

i cant confirm it but i think the microwave was invented accidently. i remember hearing a guy left his lunch next to a radar he left running.

dont forget the 2050 Hummer H6
