    The point is that the default installation of Mac OS X requires the user to create a user account that is not root. While by default the user account on Windows is administrator(root), which 90% of windows users use and are unaware/unconcerned with.

    If this guy is truly a valued company assett, then I'm sure he is well-known and most likely well-liked within the organzation. In this case I'm sure management can resolve the issue or make the exception for him. In the case of him being a nameless, faceless techie, (which is probably most likely) then I'm sure his attempt will be in vain. Anyone who would quit their job over something as trivial as this is not an upper level employee and therefore not "in touch" with management. Management won't care about his plight, because they don't have a clue who he is or what he does.

    Same problem here. I can see all the smb shares on my XP Pro Machine, and only 2 out 4 on my Win 2003 Server.

    I too, get the " ....could not be opened, could not be found"

    This is more than a little problem, in my opinion. I expected 10.3.2 to resolve the issues, but so far, I can't tell that anything has changed in regards to networking.

    Strange that this improvement in Panther, was something that wasn't broken in Jaguar.

    Ok, Apple this situation is getting critical.

    Maybe, but I'm noticing a speed improvement also. Safari seems faster as does the genie effect. I dunno. .8 my dock.

    Because they don't have to, and consumers will keep purchasing their product. Why doesn't MS upgrade Explorer to have tabbed browing and popup blocking built in? Because they don't have to. It goes on and on.

    Exactly what I was thinking. And in the case of a hard crash or a spontaneous reboot, one does not have the opportunity to send the error report.
