Actually I have auto-update running on my XP Home and XP Pro systems at home.
When SP3 installed on my wife's XP Home system, wireless failed and she couldn't connect to the internet. I had to back it out and turn off auto-updates.
When SP3 installed on my desktop's XP Home system, wireless failed and I couldn't connect to the internet. I left it installed and just plugged a network cable into the box.
When XP Pro is updated on my new system (I bought XP Pro SP3 with my new home built gaming rig), it occasionally loses the primary monitor. Originally I'd have to blindly change the primary to either the left or right monitor but I discovered that if I leave the monitor off during boot, Windows doesn't see it at all and changes the primary to the left monitor.
But last night I updated the firmware on a Sun T2000 server and it marked 8 gigs of the 16 gigs of RAM as bad and now it won't boot to DVD.
My wife's Toshiba bit the dust so she bought a Dell with Vista and is doing ok with it.
I rebuilt my old XP Home box as a media server. I have to unplug and plug in the USB mouse as it doesn't recognize it on boot and I have to Repair the wireless connectivity (Netgear USB) every time but it is using SP3 and wireless works now.
So it all sucks. Sometimes it sucks badly but it all sucks.
I got quite a few new games when I built my new gaming rig. Dead Space, Fallout 3, Red Alert 3, Bioshock, C&C Kane's Wrath. A few of the games that just reached the limits of my old system look and play quite a bit better, Doom 3, Quake 4, Half-Life 2, C&C 3.
So when I got stuck early on in Dead Space and the little puzzle was too much for my FPS brain to handle (especially with all the new stuff), I just moved on to Fallout 3.
I've been getting Starcraft back up again and touching on Fallout and Quake in between. I'll probably get back to Dead Space and continue on. We'll see:)
I have a password keeper on my Palm and my Blackberry. At the moment, every password and game keycode are in the Palm but I need to export that out and into something similar on the computer so I can back it up.
Really? What's the right way to do it with php on the server side?
It's a form with say 10 fields. Field number 10 is read only and contains just the calculated value from the other 9 fields.
If I type '3' in field 1, field 10 should immediately display '3'. If I type '2' in field 2, field 10 should immediately display '5'.
And so on. I've used php to build pages, but not interact with the client.
The idea is during combat, I can bring up the page and enter in the necessary values and pass field 10 to the attacker and field 20 to the defender. This way I don't have to look up 4 or 5 tables and combat becomes smoother.
I'm a hobbyist and haven't programmed professionally in quite a while but if not Javascript, what (and I'm not using VBScript)? I'm not doing gigantic web sites, but little one off tools for my Shadowrun game. I'd like to have one page for inputting numbers, calculations, and the results are posted in the last field (like a total). Is there something I can use that's more appropriate?
Damn, no wonder this country's going down the tubes. You don't "appease the crazy", you institutionalize them so they can be treated. Once they're well, return them to society so they can lead productive lives.
Damn, it wasn't even a shitload of debt. The article said he had 3.5 million in the bank and half a million in gold, etc.
Hell, pay me 3 million dollars to sit in White Collar prison for 21 months.
I've had several job queries from a local (Thornton Colorado) spam company. The first time I did a little research on the company and turned it down. Now, each time I get pinged by a headhunter, I reply that I don't work for spamming companies.
We also have a Satellite card when we're on call. As I was on call last week, I had the card. Of course it's only necessary if you're not going to be at home. So of course this morning I forgot it.
Couldn't say about the mis-manager part but this is the best place I've worked at for many years. I can deal with a little stupidness from time to time considering I was at IBM.
The funny thing is, most of the team has left because it used to be even better. But coming from lots worse (IBM), I compare this to when I moved from the DC area to Denver. A breath of fresh air. You don't know what you have until you don't have it any more. And you don't know how bad it is until it gets better.
I snagged an extra charger and even docking station so I didn't have to muck with plugging everything in to my kvm at home.
But I haven't left my laptop at home (yet). I have left my badge at home a couple of times. First and second times they make a temp for me to use. Third time I'm charged some amount ($50?). Fourth and subsequent times, I have to go home to get it and I get a talking to by my manager:rolleyes:
So far the two times I've left it at home have been because I have something to do first thing and I wanted to make sure I got to work on time.
And while I'm trying to get work to consider some telecommuting, I did work at IBM and telecommuted for a year. I guess I don't have that sort of personality as it became somewhat tense. It's hard to set up interpersonal team connections over the 'net (we were spread across the states). Add in the generally toxic environment and I had to quit. So some telecommuting is good (one or two days a week), I wouldn't want to do it 5 days a week.
So I'm not going to get the same consideration from you because I'm not driving a big enough vehicle even though I can do 186mph?
That explains a lot about cager behavior. I always ride my motorcycle as if cagers are trying to kill me. It seems like I'm not far off of my thinking, at least in your case.
The problem even with _not_ giving it out is that spamming scumsuckers simply run through the alphabet trying addresses. It doesn't take long for an e-mail address to start picking up one or two spam e-mails.
That was so far back in time that I don't know if I even used a FOR/NEXT loop. The main program that I recall making was a Car Wars vehicle generation program. I do remember a lot of GOSUBs. I had to have used them though, if nothing else to display the various tables. But it wasn't until I started working as a programmer for a surveyor that I finally understood PRINTF:)
Crap!
10 REM Bite your Tongue 15 LET TONGUE=10
20 PRINT "Bite your tongue, Eander" 30 IF TONGUE=1 GOTO 60 40 PRINT "No, really, BASIC is great!" 45 TONGUE=TONGUE-1
50 GOTO 30 60 PRINT "Now, go create some BASIC code" 70 END Oh yea, I remember BASIC:)
No I don't think they should have it, especially based on the shadiness of the transaction. Heck, I live just a short ways away from the Colorado office. I might just stop by and check it out.
But I don't know what you want _me_ to do. The owners have apparently abandoned the space. The "police" are investigating.
I'll keep an eye on it here and in other places and drop the block when appropriate.
I have a block on China and Latvia. China because they're always trying to get in to my system via ssh and Latvia because they're always trying to subvert my web server (lots of eclub.lv redirect attempts).
Do you have a proposal besides "we can't let them win OMG!" If so, then let's hear it.
Yep, that's me. I have three monitors. Center for work, right for application viewing, left (vertically) for documentation such as Safari or a PDF.
Works great. I have a harder time at work because I only have the laptop and an attached monitor (also vertically).
Yea, the first setup is my home system :D

Actually I thought it was because MS Net was 1.x and MS Lan Manager (which was laid over OS/2) was 2.x.
[John]
Mojo Nixon. Elvis is everywhere!
[John]
I'd be willing to pay to have it fixed.
[John]
You might try http://www.penandpapergames.com./ The site is orientated to be a gamer/gm locater service and does a reasonable job of it.
[John]
And http://www.rpg.net/ seems to attract quite a few gamers including an entire section just for DnD folks.
http://www.penandpapergames.com/ is supposed to be a general gamer and locater site but much of the conversation is DnD related.
[John]
Not only that, but apparently not especially easy to find (based on others comments as I don't hit the WotC site).

I have two. One for home and one I brought to work to replace the FPOS Dell keyboard. Manufactured 11OCT86 :)
I bought the one I brought to work so it's nice and clean. The home one is from an IBM-XT-286 I had long long ago. Still works great.
