    the problem is if you are trying to make laws about something you have to have more then a laymans understanding of it in order to make the right decisions. making laws and regulations about something which you have little to no understanding about is a recipe for disaster.

    i've never done it before, but i've heard from several people that it's not hard, the main thing is to read the upgrade guide and take note of any gotcha's. all it essentially does it replace much of the core OS files and builds a new kernel, then you reboot the system and all things going well, it works. of course the degree of complexity might vary depending on the apps your running and what they depend on, but that's all well documented.

    britain is nothing like the rest of europe, in fact most countries within europe are nothing like each other. you use britain and europe as interchangable regions when they are not, british laws don't effect european countries. this fact obivously escapes you since your american and have no concept of the world past your own city block.

    i would argue it's the school IT departments responsibility to prevent that ever happening. expecting non technical staff to trouble shoot spyware is over the top.

    except it's NOTHING LIKE THAT, it's not her pictures, they were from software installed in secret without her knowledge, and when she discovered what had happened she attempted to get them removed and recieved no assitance. you can not remove the technology from the argument simply because your too dense to understand it, it's intergral to what happened.

    it's already been established that spyware is what popped up the porn, so reguardless of HOW it got on there that should be enough to drop the child abuse charges right there. at worst she is guilty of violating school computer policys by viewing porn.besides, last i checked it was up to them to prove how she got the spyware on there in the first place, not just accuse her of viewing porn when she gives a perfectly good excuse for how it got there.

    define "well secured" if you removed all functionality from the system then maybe, but desktops need the functionality i'd use to crash it eg. scripting languages like JS.

    thats rubbish. i can write a program what would crash ANY OS if it was preloaded on there. i agree with the poster, MS does have it tough in these respects, that much of what oem's preload is bullshit that slows down the system.

    the fact is, C02 isn't capable of producing enough warming to see these changes, and the maths on it shows this. by far the 2 greatest forces that effect our climate are water vapour and solar activity. i always love that they spout about 1998 - 2000 being the hottest on record, yet fail to mention most of that warming came from extra solar flare activity. it makes me wonder about these claims. frankly i think it's pretty concited to think we would be able put much of a dent in the planets atmosphere on a GLOBAL scale.
