    I tried the latest ubuntu the other week, it was all very slick right up until i tried to use it to browse youtube. mouse wheel didn't work, flash wouldn't work. fucking FAIL.

    yet another study bagging men. maybe it's just because they stick out in my mind, but most women i know are dumb as a fucking door nail. now i know some really smart women to, but i cound them on one hand where the type that think about nothing but landing a man and having babies is a dime a dozen.

    how about we do a study on why the fuck studies always concerntrate on proving the current PC flavour of the month, and studies that prove unpopular truths hardly see the light of day.

    cpu time has to be paid for? what a fucking stupid crock of shit. you sir will go far in some middle management hell hole.

    I would argue that having pc's sitting there doing nothing, dropping and capital value and burning 180 watts DOING NOTHING, is far worse then cpu's doing something worthwhile like seti (or the cancer cure searching one, whatever) and consuming an extra 2 cents an hour in power.

    the schools like of it costing them a million dollars is the kind of horseshit that should be made criminal.

    if by greenies you mean greenpeace, they make fools of themselfs easily.

    i think while this report is bullcrap on how much of a saving you get from led's, in general it's right - there really isn't a reason to keep using incandescent bulbs anymore. I plan on building a new house next year and it'll be all led driven from a dedicated 12v circuit in my house that will run outdoor lighting as well as my bar fridge.

    I keep hearing this argument, but no solid maths to back it up. you see people aren't starving because of us farming cows instead of corn or grain, they are starving because of war or policial unrest preventing them having sustainable argiculutre industries.

    and while it's true some parts of the world treat animals terribly, in western farms this is increasingly not the case. And under western farming conditions any food they consume is very effectly converted into muscle, which has a much high energy content then grains - you don't have to eat anywhere near as much meat as grain to survive, so it's definately not a case of a plate of grain is equal to a plate of meat.

    this isn't a domestic dispute in your local burb. when your 200km off the somali coast, WHAT authorities are going to come to your aid? besides it's not like you wouldn't fire off a few warning shots first (after signalling them). frankly there's not much margin for error when a boat load of gun bearing somali pirates are headin your way.

    And this goes for everything - speak the language of the person you are trying to convince. He's a CEO, so pitch it to him as a branding issue for your internal customers.

    tell him you feel it's essential to attract and KEEP the right people that they know they are in the right job, and they will know that by being refered to as their rightful title. don't make it sound like you are going to smack people over the fingers with a ruler for calling them IT people, and definately don't start handing out grand titles that make the job sound more then it is, just ease it in via meeting requests etc.
