Slipstreamed installs work very well - much better than upgrades. It shouldn't be the case, but what can you do. I also recommend disabling the firewall (but then I have a hardware one, so am less worried:) )

With the new cards in the GeForce series you have expensive requirements like massive power supplies extra slots, high-end cooling, and you need to not mind the dustbuster sound coming from your machine
Massive Power Supplies: 6800 GTs are happy in shuttles with 250W PSUs
Extra Slots: The 6800 and GT are single-slot
High-end Cooling: See whats cooling your CPU, then count the transistors on each. Besides, it's much better to have a good cooling solution with headroom for overclocking than something that barely makes the grade
Dustbuster Sound: I think you're confusing the 6800 series with a certain FX card. Besides, there is nothing stopping third-party manufacturers changing the fan, and many do.
supid things like bringing back SLI
SLI is a really good idea - it allows those who want to to have a very fast setup without increasing the price for those who are content with a fast setup.
Now NVidia is positioning itself in the difficult, obtrusive ultra-high end space where 3Dfx was when it died.
Not at all. nVidia has sold zillions of FX5200s to OEMs.
It's not monoculture you're complaining about, it's windows. If all the computers were running linux, you (and lots of ofther people here) would probably think it was fabulous. Frankly, I can understand the Compuetr Department wanting to standardise - it makes their job much easier than having to deal with several OSes. That they chose Windows is no surprise - while a few people will be happy from day one, many people (from experience) find the transition daunting.
but look at what it does for civil liberties and privacy
How does this affect civil liberties? BT is a private company, and part of the AUP is that you can't look up kiddie porn, hence they ban it. If the government blocked it then you would have a point, but private companies can filter what they like.
But English wasn't a problem. Equally, Italy has always been fine for me. Generally what I've found is that the locals are much more likely to be co-operative in english if you open the conversation in the native language.

I've been using Wikipedia almost exclusively as my encyclypedia for over a year now.
You can log on to Win 2k and XP Pro workstations using a smart card.

Same here. Installed fine on over 35 clients, no problems at all. Far too much scaremongering if you ask me.
No, definately salient.

Porn? I mean, isn't that what this whole crazy internet thing is for?
That's the other 65%
You asked for it. Now you can get it. The first all-in-one digital command central made just for you.
:/
Yeah...
I've always wanted a digital command central
WTF is with the moderation! +5 Funny?? I was expecting +3 Insightful or -1 Troll :/
Haven't they realised that animated GIFs only serve to irritate?
Maybe they object to this
Dirty woman...
Yah, it's like 1998 all over again :0
*Tears out eyes*
It's mainly a graphical update atm - the gameplay is mainly unaffected. One you've played it, you will understand how awesome it is.
Surely by the time *anything* is 29 degrees, there is enough IR to interfere with a signal?

Actually it translates to

What people forget is that the real market is with OEM manufacturers.
OCUK are getting large batches in every now and then - enough to clear backorders.

Oh dear, you gotta love the irony.
Don't miss the auction of Enron's art.
Some interesting pieces there.
