No I don't think so. They are retailing at $29.95 in Australia (normal platinum is $50 and new games $100), which would be something like $15 US.
Which for a game like jak 3 is a pretty darn good deal
It's a bit of a sad sign when see a post about 'Aurora Show' and on first glance assume it is about something completely different. I hope I'm not alone.
The problem for me was I was stuck down the front of the theatre doing the neck straight up type thing.
Which was fine until I thought the movie was almost over so I relaxed the muscles and allowed them to start hurting (which I had been ignoring since then)....but of course it wasn't over and still had an hour to go...
The download came down soon enough and the install was pretty painless. Wanted to run as root... (but doesn't require it?)
Then it was easy enough to copy the pk4 files over from my windows partition and the game started up first go.
Sound worked, graphics look good and run a lot better than under windows. I think this is a driver issue though as it has never run well for me before.
Pretty impressed and happy so far.... Not that I could really be bothered to go through the game again now though....
What about this plan?
1. Enter into China market playing nice with the government so you can stay around
2. Get everyone to use your web-site such that it becomes a part of everday internet life.
3. Suddenly put those blocked results back in. Maybe with a little message explaining why it is blocked.
4. Wait for uprising as people complain to government when their favourite search engine suddenly goes offline.
5. World is a safer and happier place.
Or something...
Yes indeed. Which is all fine until you pull out the flashlight only to spot something that needs the shotgun to kill...except that the last weapon you had was the hand-gun. By the time you have sorted it out, you've been hit a couple of times.
It's not 'terrible', but would have been a whole lot easier if you could say, strap the light onto your gun or similar and shoot at the same time.
Whilst I'm typing too, I'll say the other big problem is how all the guns really suck compared to the shotgun. Every creature in the game can be killed by shooting with the shot-gun, running back behind the last corner, and then waiting for it to wander around and shooting it again.
Since 99% of the game is wondering around tight corridors, the shotgun is all you really need.
They may look awful, but looking awful and being responsible are two completely different things.
You wouldn't recommend the game, thats fine. (Either would I, but only because it was so boring imo). But everyone should have the right to decide if they want to play it or not. Just the same as parents have the right to let their kids play the game or not.
If the parents in this case let their kids play the game, they are the ones responsible. (Assuming some link between violent games and real life violence can be established). Simple as that.
I don't have a problem with the lights going out except that the flash-light is so fiddly to use.
The biggest problems I have is firstly there is no originality whatsoever (half-life + system shock with better graphics), and having to listen to the complete audio logs over and over just to get a code to the cabinets.
It is well put together though, and has enough 'tops' moments for me.
Besides, the entire point of these risky, socially purposeless, complicated, budget-eating manned space missions is basically to do more things big and showy to pat ourselves on the back as a species
Just keep in mind that our planet is doomed to be sucked into the sun one day. Sure we have a fair while to get off this planet, but the sooner we start the better right?
It can't top the ending of the first movie. I laugh everytime I see the three heros walking off happily arms around each other at the end.
Never mind the fact that Denise Richards had been speared through the shoulder about 5 minutes before.
Actually I read that the MyDoom.C name comes from Microsoft. Probably so named so that the masses think it is the same virus attacking their computers rather then a new fresh one.
That everyone now is using SCO to cash in a little. No doubt Novell, IBM et al have made these funds knowing full well that SCO will never see any of that money because they will never really challenge anyone in court if they can help it.
Meanwhile, these companies get free good publicity.
Without the uploaders, you will be hard pressed to find downloaders anyway.
What about this though, someone creates a virus that intentionally leaves a limited back-door into your system. This lets anyone log on, look at media files on your computer and download them.
Then you never made your files available for sharing, the downloader is liable for breaking into your computer, but it just happens that you don't want to lay any charges.
If only there was a way to get a virus onto a windows computer without people being seen to knowingly install it...
I was disappointed by the original too. The potential was definately there, but it all ended up feeling shallow. Certainly compared to a game like Baldur's Gate 2 there was nowhere near the feeling of involvement.
The first expansion was better though. You could see them really start to pull out some better rpg tricks like real choices in how to deal with situations. Thats why a lot of people are keen for this next expansion, assuming that the improvement has continued to what the first game could (should?) have been.

If you could live in an imaginery universe while robots tended your body ... would you?
Not would you, Have we?
Looks like the answer may be https://members.warnerbros.com/registration/us/fee .html
Looks pretty standard, $14.99 per month. Or in other words, way too much
They same could be said of the daleks, but they did alright for a while

The the Earth is not only a giant computer, but a particle accelarator as well? Pretty versatile planet really.
Pretty much just escaping from a Cube. Just keep them in mind
Not so much how much you should use their product(s), more how often you should be paying them.

I think we should all get behind IBM and support them. Does anyone know if they have a pay-pal account where we can make donations?

Not to go left or right, but why you chose to go the way you did.
It could also be handy if you are stuck in a cube loaded with death traps.
That they were able to save money by using an existing telescope.
Because the compact flash cards for this thing cannot be cheap.

Keep playing around with stuff at -100 and the quest is going to end one way or another
