Debugging is twice as hard as writing the code in the first place. Therefore, if you write the code as cleverly as possible, you are, by definition, not smart enough to debug it.
Sounds to me like Gentoo developers need to read The Pragmatic Programmer, then decide where they want Gentoo to go. Possibly create two teams, one for the stable development and fixing current problems, and another for the shiny magpie features. Gentoo can't expect their project to continue without direction. The problem here is that there is no direction, no goals and because of this the project is going off in different directions. This is due to lack of communication, and lack of scope. When this happens software spirals out of control and developers are left wondering what it is they were trying to do.
It's not hard to sort out - go back to basics. Firstly, decide where you want Gentoo to be a year from now. Secondly, sort out the existing problems before adding new features (problems) to the list. Thirdly, create a sub team from the current dev team (not really a fork) to work on shiny features. Infact, there should probably be several teams designated to certain parts of Gentoo. Once you have scope and know what you're working on it's alot easier to get the job done.
Microsoft are obviously going to create a report in their favour. If it wasn't promoting windows then they would not create the report. Rebooting the machine isn't even taken into consideration. Why did this even make/.? *grumble*
Samba only reversed engineerd the protocols, not any actual product. There's a difference. "Reverse engineering for interoperability" is not legally fine. DECSS anyone?
Will the introduction of Windows.Forms mean we can GUI write applications for our Linux PDA's?
IIRC you can compile and deploy non-UI.Net CF libraries on Mono without much trouble. But for the UI applications, that's a different story.
Can you show me proof of Ireland being "at the forefront of this effort to push software patents through against the wishes of the elected members".
By saying Ireland I'm assuming you are talking about the entire country. If that's true then I'm pretty sure you are wrong. Every person I've talked to about software patents sees the danger with them and do not want them in Europe - and I've talked to over 1000 people in my locality. That's 80% of the population of the town I live in - and I'm pretty sure the other 20% don't know what a software patent is.
If you mean the Irish Government, please link me to a government backed effort to push software patents through.
Ireland is not a third world country. In fact Ireland is one of the wealthiest in Europe. And if you RTFA you would see why Ireland has been chosen for this project.
I'm having the exact same problems with my Acer TravelMate 240, i can't query the battery power state, it says it's always plugged in, so i can't see the battery percentage;/

Why not just wear gloves? I really don't see the point in this..

You cannot blame MS...
I only got that far in your sentence. I did not read any further because it has to be utter rubbish.
War is still on going in those two countries.
Hey that's not true, they won the war against themselves!
because they have cheap wine, fine women and piracy does not exist! Viva la France!
