In CA (as I just found out) all persons who engage in home/home business PC repair *MUST* be licensed by the state Bureau of Electronics and Appliance Repair at $165/year... no test.
Here in California (as I just recently found out), anyone who fixes home/home business computers for a fee *MUST* be licensed by the Bureau or Electronics and Appliance Repair.
It's the same license needed for fixing Radios and Televisions. No test, no nothing, just $165 a year... And that serves a purpose (other than filling gov't coffers) how?
Just when you thought the internets were safe... A new breed of hate sites have spawned, quietly masquerading as "collaborative encyclopedias" and "Information Technology news portals", leaving angry, slandered victims in their wake. Don't be victimized. Find out how in our special investigative report at 11.
Sure, I can get a job with "equivalent experience," but I can expect my salary to be at less 10% less than if I had a degree *and* the experience.
But is that extra 10% going to cover the thousands of dollars in student loans you rack up getting the degree?
Check the download section @ iPodLounge and you'll find a number of utilities that allow you to copy tracks FROM your iPod TO your PC / Mac / Fancy Abacus. You could also use a utility like BurnOut (sorry, can't find a link, but I believe it is also @ iPodLounge) and burn CDs directly from your iPod.
Actually, my father just had two emergency brain surgeries from a fall off a segway. See, if the "sidewall" of the wheel rubs up against a wall or other similar object, inertia will throw the rider forward and they'll push up against the handlebars, causing the segway to accelerate (poor design there!) while they reflexively lean back to compensate for their forward fall, making it real easy for the segway to shoot out from under your feet. Now keep in mind that this was a super healthy guy in his 50s, just imagine what could happen to a frail, elderly person...
So to break it down... Old People + Segways = Bad Idea (unless you want to kill off the elderly, then it's a good idea)

But, for many people AOL is the only option
Who? As long as you have a phone line (which is a requirement to use AOL, too) you can access any number of ISPs. Sure many people may think AOL is the only option, but those are typically the people who can't tell the difference between RAM and HDD space and think that windows = computer.
("My windows was acting strange, so I unplugged it")
According to Symantec, this virus was dicovered on January 7th... Did it really take 7 mos. to get out to the wild/become a threat, or is the BBC just having a slow news day?
I apologize for offending your superior intellect and making you repeat yourself. I meant to put "can't be copyrighted but trademarked" but unfortunately I am too stupid to find the "Preview" button. Thank you for being so patient and not jumping down my throat... oh, wait, you did? Lick my balls.
...for the same reason a company name can be copyrighted or trademarked or a product name. See, just because it has "name" in it doesn't automatically lump it in under "name"... however IANAL.
they basically say, "we've got plenty of money, why would we need VC's or going public?"
Not to mention Craig (who's list it is...) has repeatedly said "No, we have no interest in going public; That's not what it was started for" on numerous occasions. Sounds like a business analyst is trying to stir up some (unfounded) hype.
When you get going fast enough, that inertia just scoots you right over the top. Or maybe his real name is Jesus and he's just being really low-profile about the whole thing.
Actually the official charges are copyright infringement, as he streamed the show from the archives. What actually got him into this whole mess, and investigated in the first place, is the mail fraud charges for selling folks reigion-free DVD players that he never delivered. (Google for his full name... some interesting stuff comes up from Google Groups)... I was initially sympathetic and almost donated until I found that out. Regardless though, this is a horribly offensive blatant abuse of the "patriot act" and a great example of just how much work it needs.
"...reminded the Slashdot faithful that Mozilla is not invincible and that it is now big enough for malware (virus and spyware) authors to target"
So, by your logic, having security holes in the code of a product is indicative of being "big enough for malware authors to target"? From what I can recall it was a proof of exploit and not actual, functional malware. POEs get written all the time, remember the "OMFG Macs can get v1ruseZZZZ fr0m mp3z0rs!!!" spook a while ago? Yup, that was a POE too. Am I missing something or is the entire tech industry ass-backwards on their logic skills?
How about a quintopoly then? And the last time the RIAA had anything I wanted to listen to, I was 8 years old and wanted to be Vanilla Ice... too cold, too cold...
So by that logic, all Mac users are geeks?

Disabled, but still mentally able, or partially physically able? Maybe we can send you some paperwork to do from home.
Partially mentally disabled? We'll give you a job at the USPTO.
Yup. Rumor has it he's been on the internets a lot lately.

Fine then. More cheese for the rest of us!

Well the 300+ angry comments on Amazon (that mysteriously got deleted) couldn't have hurt...

No, that's the fault of the lobbyists.
