    How can I go about getting a copy of their database and hosting it somewhere else? I know there is mirror software but it now sounds like mirroring systems will be broken by this so any sort of updating is going to be difficult. I know about proxies but they are a suboptimal solution due to bandwidth issues and reliability.

    They are not dishonest they've stated they're making a $1. There is nothing that says you have to take more unless you're some low wage loser that has to get minwage because of a federal or state welfare by fiat scheme.

    They're not assholes for building up a successful company while not being as malevolent as microsoft.

    They're not selfish as the money they are not paid, unlike some CEO's sucking up bailout welfare, can go to their employees or stock holders.

    They and their company have not been selfish at giving back to the world in several ways through open source code and monetary contributions to a wide variety of charities.

    I don't care. I admire them for crapping on SS. SS is a scheme where the people who die last get the most and the rich are already excluded and probably laughing their ass off at the recipients. Your spouse or remaining family do not get a check cashing out your SS because it's a transfer scheme not an account you own. The soupreme Court has crapped out a ruling on this. There was a very narrow window where SS could have been converted over to a 401k account one that now cannot happen again.

    I've used a linux based distribution since around 97, started with Slackware. It's gotten bad enough I'm getting tired of dealing with egos.

    I don't want to have to pay M$ for win7 but the audio and X server issues in Linux distributions are killers.

    I have not found one. After Ubuntu shat pablum residue on my system I tried in order.

    Kubuntu, wow KDE is shit when it used to blow gnome awway.
    Madrivel It just didn't work and is alien enough to be unconfigurable.
    SUSE It had serious X issues.

    Fedora 10, it sort of worked and I could deal with it. Upgraded to 11 and have so far managed to keep sound working for the few hours I need it a day. Via one of the alternative yum repositories efforts 3D works for ATI. I even managed to get Doom3 to talk to pppulseaudio, I should be given a medal. VLC still stutters, so does mplayer, totem, and some others Xine works but has a shitty interface and loves to die if you click the wrong thing but the audio and video are good if you don't touch anything.

    I'm to the point of switching to windows to get shit done and play the games I want.

    The X issue is CTRL-ALT-BKSP, it's gone and all I got were snide remarks and derision when I asked how to get it back. It's gone from Fedora as well but they had a method to get it restored. It's tedious and pedantic.

    Removing functionality from X. Deleting the ability to restore a feature.
    Making it damn near impossible to troubleshoot X crashes.

    Politicians with balls went out of style in WWII. You get too much other crap as baggage with them. They kill more than plagues ever did.

    Without drastic and pre-WWII style draconian social control you can do surveillance and find an up and coming candidate to generate a vaccine for. Since we have a limited and fragile capacity for creating vaccines once you've chosen you're stuck with it. Then something like the captain tripps virus can crop up and run amok.

    The drastic and draconian social change would be reminiscent of totalitarian dictatorships. Most nations will not be able to do it though Britain will come close followed by Russia though without the resources and the US will implement them ineptly.

    Most other countries will implode.

    I started with paper schematics, went to microfiche since it was cheaper and less clutter then went to electronic which was even cheaper and far less clutter. Just before the end of my consumer electronics repair 'career' one company had animated schematics with detailed voltages, currents and oscilloscope wave forms.

    I deal with the vast unwashed neo-luddites who are happy with their on button and cup holder. They can with some effort open and read emails. Asking them to manage a secure public key system is beyond their fragile minds. At least their mail is harder to hack.

    Having terrified them that they would lose everything including pension if they did anything with banking or 401k or bought anything at least my parents are safe.
