Honestly, what use does one have for such a large mailbox?
I sure don't since I am using it for my private email that only my friends know about. I usually get like 10-30 email per year there (but hey, no spam:D )...
Cameras seem to be useful to shock people also. In my Electronics (grade 9) class we turned a free disposable camera into a shock box as one of our projects. I did mine in the shape of a christmas present and gave it to my sister for christmas. Well, she fell for it:)
I have a beta account at gmail. Right now I am tring to delete a email, but have trouble. There is no trashcan icon or 'delete' in the "More Actions" menu. I know it's possible, since there is a folder called trash.
I seen many websites go on strike in the past (ex: Gnome, AMSN...). But these sites are only visited by the few linux users there are (few compared to windows users). These protests would make a bigger impact if they were done by sites that many people use, like google.
2GB of RAM and 1 terabyte of disk space. It's rediculous.
I wouldn't say 2GB of RAM is rediculos. Today we have home computers with 1GB. I guess that within the next year (2005), 1GB will become used as 512MG is used now. But 1TB of diskspace? Common, we don't even have a harddrive for a home computer over 200GB!!!
I find that every distro has it's problems and advantages. For example, gentoo has protage which I find is a easy system to install/update packeges. But it's install could get easier. Then RedHat (or Fedora). I quite like the RedHat Network (is it still up?), but it only gives you critical updates. But on the other hand, it is very easy to install.
I agree with you. I read about the offer on slasdhot and I made one post (copy of what I sent to the amsn-devel list). And hey, the next day I got a gmail account.
Every pc user with a brain should have a firewall and anti virus sofware running.
Concidering how I only use Windows to play games and burn CD's, I don't really care what worm get on it as long as it don't damage the hardisk. It is a bother to install a AV program when I spend so little time on Windows. btw, I am behind a firewall/router.
And AV isn't the only solution. My dad has the same laptop for at least 7 years now and it never got a virus. I guess that it is still running win95 from when he bought it has something to do with it....
Is ther eany real reason for me to upgraade from 1.4? As far I see it, no matter the gentoo version you always have the newest stuff. So what's the difference?
I have learned more about how Linux works in the last year with Gentoo than I had in the previous 3 trying RH, Debian and Suse. You aren't the only one. I really like the documents on the site. The installation handbook made it a breeze and setuping other apps was easy too from the documentation on their site.
Final words, thanks Daniel Robibs for providing us with a advanced distro that is easy to use.
It's funny to see how much this place has turned from a Linux-loving site to a Microsoft-hating site. The way I see it, Linux-lovers are usually Microsoft-haters. Slashdot hasn't changed at all...;)
You know, Slashdot should get some of the money for the advertizing it's giving to it. 1300 pounds?? it's been a minute since the story was posted and it's now at 8100!!!
Will they sell it in stores in Canada too? I have trouble getting my hands on a Zaurus without accualy having to go to USA... (That 1 hour drive to the border is too much =P)
Will they skew web search results (searching for "Microsoft security hole" takes one only to microsoft update)?
I don't think so, since I don't get suggested to search for porn anymore when looking for xfree86. =P Also, searching for Linux gives me quite good results.
Hotmail appears to be online again. Allright, let's bring it down again. Really, I don't get how this made the front page of slashdot, internet servers are down often (ones running MS Windows) and Hotmail has a huge load every day. It's not suprising that it went down...

I didn't think it was his sort of thing
You sure? We were never able to figure out what he's holding in this picture...

Couldn't we just ask google?
I am of the lucky few that got to see the pictures. It isn't like a shopping car at all, more like a red toolbox on wheels...
its time to rebuild again now that 2004.1 came out!!!!
;))...
I would be appling the patch too, exept I am still emerging gnome (new install since yesterday night

Speaking of Linus Torvalds, he is one of the 100 men that made a impact in the current edition of TIME (Canadian Edition).

I just wonder if Microsoft will be too successful after Bill Gates and Ballmer die. Well, unless they bribe the devil...
I wonder what the open source landscape would be like if Microsoft were not regarded as the great satan.
One thing is for certain, slashdot wouldn't exist.

...I have been waiting for this release for couple of months now to get my first PDA!
It must have been a KDE user...

Does anyone know when it will come to the portage tree?
