Lots of people are quick to say that someone else's work "needs" something. My car needs its cupholder in a sane spot, instead of so it just about blocks the radio buttons. It's true, but that's not exactly a demand on the car maker. Just a hint... MR. SUBARU!
I was rather surprised the other day to actually discover that my car does have cupholders... they weren't obvious... I only found them when I accidently pushed against what appeared to be a solid divider between the aircon and the radio and they popped out slightly... again, I'm still being surprised by the hidden functions of KDE... the "fish:\\" function is currently very usefull...
Explain to me again the value of buying commercial software if it becomes abandon-ware less than 5 years after its release? 5 years seems like a long time in the software world, but I would be super pissed if I couldn't get parts for my 5 year old car.
Can you imagine wandering around the shelves of a breaker's yard looking for replacement parts for a 5 year old OS??? that appears to be what computer fairs are nowadays...
Yup... I've purchased all of the Sex and The City series... even at half price in sales, that's cost a packet... and I'd already downloaded them on bittorrent... Same goes for Red Dwarf and AB Fab... got the lot on torrent, busy purchasing them on DVDs as the torrents are OK, but the DVDs are so much better. All the extras and the picture quality is superior as well.
for showing us how badly a browser can be designed... yes... except that Konqueror's primary function is as a filesystem browser, where the UP button makes perfect sense in it's location...
I'm personally not worried about it, if they were hacked it didn't involve the GPL version, they run the corporate version. And if there is a vulnerability in the GPL version, they'll shortly have a patch available.
How do you know the GPL version isn't affected? It's the GPL website that's down. One hopes they're being extra carefull double checking all the downloadable files and updates to make sure they haven't had trojaned versions substituted.
you may have problems with Smoothwall at the moment. According to the mailing list, the main Smoothwall site has been hacked. No further news available so far. The websites has the short message "Down for maintenance - returning soon"
It's officially a 2 man lift and the vast majority of that weight is the heavy metal shielding at the front to absorb the soft X-rays that occur when the electrons strike the glass.
you were lucky, my co-worker behind me is on ordinary dialup... he gave up in complete frustration and has uninstalled everything to do with it and is now going off to get his money back. And heaven help anyone who tries to tell him that because his cd key has been activated he can't have his money... All he wants is to be able to play it standalone... he went through hell last night while steam spent ages updating itself, before it then spent ages updating HL2 and then activating it... all over ordinary dialup.
rather dificult to unseal evidence which has been destroyed... which is precisely why I hoovered up and archived all those documents presented in the Sun vs Microsoft case... which strangely enough has been sealed as part of the settlement terms.
does this mean everybody is going to finally agree on where to install major packages like Gnome and KDE??? and that as a consequence, packages compiled on one distro such as mandrake for KDE will install on another distro such as Suse with the same "major" version of KDE? I'm tired of finding binary packages on websites compiled for say mandrake and there being no Suse version also.
no... ISPs should just toss them off the network and only connect them to a stock page to be told what's wrong. I don't want my ISP getting any stupid ideas to fix what is basically a Microsoft problem (you may have gathered that I do not use microsoft products in any shape or form).
I think barbed wire fences, CCTV, thermal motion sensors, and tripwires would be a cheaper, more effective way of keeping the children inside the school grounds... heck, chain them to their desks and move them from class to class in guarded groups... else they'll have to ring the school with the RFID sensors anyway to catch them bunking off after having checked in.
The problem with spam is slowing it down, whats really needed is a CPU intensive solution like the hashcash suggestion (like which has been suggested before), that way mass spammers can be differentiated from different users.
fix isn't to slow it down, the fix is for Microsoft to fix their borked OSes and make it impossible for them to be zombified... then spammers will have to go to using more awkward methods. In the meantime, ISPs should be more proactive and toss zombied boxes off the network. Users will soon get the clue when they cannot connect.
Personally, I'm of the suspicion that it's all a conspiracy to push a technical solution on us from above making it mandatory to only connect with certified clean boxes. And wondrously so, Microsoft and the hardware manufacturers will magically appear with the solution in the form of new hardware and software.
well, perhaps to avoid the necessity of having to find your pass before you can use your computer, the next move will be to ditch the pass entirely, and have an rf coupled chip version implanted that responds everytime it is challenged, in a sequence determined by the time of day, phase of the moon, combined with your encryption ID, which strangely enough is also the same as your SSN

keep Kylix up to date with Delphi and not let it wither...
Better yet, why have Kylix, when you could just have Delphi with a Linux runtime to support the environment.
nah... it should read "I see no ships"...

hah... that's one web page I wouldn't want working on my Linux box anyway... :)

actually, you should have claimed that $5000 back against your car insurance. As it was all related to the crash.

go on... do it... you know you want to... :)

Hmmm... target rich environment... Check underarms... set "chatup" lines on stun... ENGAGE...
YES...
there goes another keyboard... coffee all over it and the monitor as well.... please warn people by wrapping your posts in sarcasm tags in future... ;)

Someone's got their priorities seriously out of kilter here...
