yes... but I've only had three crashes in the eight years I've been running Linux... and two of those I think I could have recovered if I'd been bothered to ssh in from another machine... It was quicker to turn it off and on again...
when I started, I had a choice between MS-Dos and PC-Dos.... GEM could run on PC-Dos, but most games came for MS-Dos... at least I didn't actually have to install the OS. I just put the appropriate floppy in drive A and the application disk in drive B (I was lucky, I had a twin disk system)
Second Life is "tragic"... too many weirdoes in it doing weird things... especially the dark porno side... (those baby unicorns are just too gross when you find out how the owners got them). There is some nice stuff there as well, but you can't safely let your children lose in it...
I have a codewheel from the days of yore that was also protected against photocopying... the wheel has matt black text on a shiny black surface... and absolute nightmare to read... and you had to use it EVERY time you ran the game...
I far preferred the ones where you were given a page number, paragraph number and line number and had to type in the first word on that line...
then I discovered how to hack the executable to non-op out the comparison check. Usually a branch instruction. Then I could type in anything...
It usually comes as an email with an enticing subject line such as "xxxx has sent you an E-card" and inviting you to click on a link in the email to view the ecard...
I'm expecting a waver of emails inviting the reader to "click here to see Vannessa Hudgens's naughty pics, the ones Disney tried to ban..."
In short: SCO is screwed. After Novell is through with them, if anything is left, IBM will launch its Lanham Act claims against SCO and there will be a smokin' hole in Linden, Utah, where SCO HQ used to be.
I want to see them go and pierce the "corporate veil" and go after the source of the money SCO used to bankroll the lawsui^H^H^H^H^H^Hscam... I want to know who the real "PIPE Fairy" is... we all suspect Microsoft, but I want to see hard evidence that can be used against Microsoft.
for them to follow when creating a standard... the existing procedure is a massive hodge-podge of sub-committees and other groups which do not appear to be following a standard procedure for making their decisions...
sorted... you don't have to shut Linux down to boot into windows for one of those games that doesn't run in Linux... in fact leave both running and just switch with the little button on the KVM... sorted...
if they hadn't bloated their OS and Apps so much, we could get away with far lower energy densities for Laptops...:) And if anyone questions this, just go and ask some of the old hands how much life they got on their old DOS and Win 3.1 laptops... I could run my old DOS based laptop for almost 20 hours on a full charge with just old-fashioned Ni-Cads in the battery compartment... and I could easily swap them out and use ordinary batteries if I couldn't get to a mains socket... Now you're lucky if you can get 2 hours out of a laptop
Microsoft won't do that, because within a few months of them having an open standard, OpenOffice and KOffice will have OOXML support.
it's more amusing than that... OpenOffice and KOffice would have OOXML support before Microsoft... Microsoft are having enough problems themselves supporting their own format... they don't even have a compliant application available yet...
things nearly got very nasty in Gloucestershire back in July during the floods. They were inches away from losing the power for the majority of the county... if the supergrid sub-station had been lost to the floods, then the army were to be ordered in to forcibly evacuate everyone from Gloucester & Cheltenham. As it was, we had fighting in the supermarkets over bottled water and basic foodstuffs and police had to be stationed at water distribution points to maintain order.
this comment is telling "Nine senators opposed the measure, including Bob Margett (R-Arcadia), who said it is premature to legislate technology that has not yet proved to be a problem. "It sounded like it was a solution looking for a problem," Margett said. "It didn't seem like it was necessary."" ah yes, not necessary now, but it is necessary to stop you in your tracks from even going down this road in the first place...
this will be a hot button assignment for all freshmen law students... Probable cause, illegal searches, illegal arrest... bingo, we have this terms classwork... maybe they'll even do his case prep work for free?
that is precisely why I was told that when driving a company vehicle, and I was involved in an accident, I was never, under any circumstances to use the sorry word or make any form of apology which could later be construed in court to be an admission of guilt... you may actually be responsible and feel sorry, but you must never, ever make an apology. If you did, then the company would not defend you...
come on guys, focus on the positive... the chute worked, pity there was nothing left to save...
the instructions are in the header...
sensors read and write to the "blackboard" through the device drivers and the high level code also reads and writes to the "blackboard"...
I would expect there to be an even greater likelihood of one motor burning out before the others...

who actually commissioned the study??? cos studies don't just happen by themselves... they cost money

What I want to know is can these worlds be private so as to keep out griefers etc. and only allow in those you want in it.

you have the choice with Open Office, you have no choice with Microsoft Office, the memory will be used...

I was under the impression that the operation for managers was the removal of the spine...

this is the correct reason for the entire charade...

very simple...they burn the .iso image as a file instead of an image...
