I was agreeing with you. I wasn't directing my post at you specifically.
Give Linux the marketshare Microsoft has, and we'll see damage go up.
Linux and the kernel team aren't to blame, because all of Linux and its userspace is contributed to by a community. So, I blame Microsoft for its faults, and I blame the community for its faults.
Heck, GNU got hacked. And remember that filesystem-corrupting "turkey" kernel release? It's all relative.
Why does Microsoft security and Windows Update keep coming up in this? This is an e-mail worm. People keep running the damned attachment like morons. It's their fault. Hell, my ISP doesn't even let.scr or any other sorts of files get through without specific permission from the user. Outlook won't run executables unless I tell it to.
No problem. Be sure to ignore all the Gentoo kernel vulnerabilities, as well as ignoring that there is a double standard--Office holes are considered Windows holes, so it is only fair an unzip hole is a Linux hole. Especially since it's such an engrained part of Linux user space. If there are yahoos around here who think calling it "GNU/Linux" is necessary because the userspace is a part of the operating system, then the holes in its primary userspace apps count as well.
You steal the sentence "instantenous destruction of skin, flesh, and muscle" from the article, which is the silliest thing I've heard (you make it sound like acid or antimatter or something).
You know what you do if you have scalding hot coffee? Take it back inside and tell the employees it's way too hot, or let it cool off. You know what you DON'T do? Hold a hot cup of coffee between your knees to remove the plastic lid.
Looks like it's holding up to me. Why would it be more likely to be Slashdotted just because it's ASP? There are worse dynamic formats it could be in that are more intensive, like, say, Perl.
I unchecked Karma Bonus because I know this is Off-topic. Disregard if you please.
If you "slightly twitch the joystick," Link doesn't jump. He hangs off the edge. If you ram the freaking joystick, then yeah, he'll jump. It's pressure-sensitive.
Uplink is a great game to jump into. It's one of those games you can leave off and then pick up later on. Unlike these huge epic massive games, where if you don't play for a couple of months and come back, you have no idea where you are or where you left off.
Games are supposed to be fun and stimulating. Pretentious game journalism is not fun and stimulating.
I'd rather read something completely open and to the point. Building up videogames into some sort of magical art form is just trying to justify the amount of time spent on this hobby. Reminds me of this idiot Battle.net player I once argued with who kept referring to himself as a professional who was in "USWest Top 1000." I couldn't have given less of a shit.
They're games, people. Even good, deep ones like Deus Ex.
The parent is an example of the cynical self-aware post, in which nihilistic criticism is preferred over subjective reasoning. In such a mindset, there are no ideals or beliefs, because all is exposed as a neverending pattern.
Jesus Christ, how long does your company have to test a little 800kb patch that does only one thing--plug a hole in DCOM--before you get off your lazy asses and patch the computers?
Sorry for the harsh tone, but when the Department of Defense itself announces TWICE to install this patch last month, and you don't, whose fault is that? You knew the risk of not being patched. You know who to blame. The vulnerability shouldn't have been there in the first place, but all operating systems have stupid vulnerabilities and flaws (remember the filesystem corrupting Linux kernel release?). Also, check my sig.
I know this is just a dumb troll, but actually, England has a higher percentage of crime than the US, in all areas. Criminals are also more likely to be prosecuted here. As far as murder rates, our rate has been declining for over a decade, as their's is going up, so the gap is narrowing.
Just random knowledge, I guess.
What DRM being pushed down our throats? Really, name a single example. I just activated my XP installation over the net in under a minute. That was it.
The presumed assumption is that in 2005, it will be common to be set up with resolutions higher than 1024x768. Also, the GUI will be scalable (like vectors), so you can just make everything smaller if you want.
Come on, guys, don't be so damned critical. This thing won't be out for another two years.
The Wachowskis had originally planned that sort of "narrative switch" but didn't want to do that to Gloria Foster. However, what happened happened, and while unfortunate, it did allow them to go through with their original plan of having the Merovingian delete the Oracle.
Or, just don't have your plant computer exposed to the net. Because Linux has vulnerabilities too, and it's way too risky to be that idiotic in the first place.
They were filmed at the same time to capitalize on the momentum of the series. As if the cast of the most popular sci-film of the 90s would go on strike from doing its two hugely anticipated sequels. Keanu Reeves even gave up some of his pay to help fund the special effects department. Then he bought them motorcycles!

I'm sick of people defending that lawsuit.

I speak for everyone when I say "duh."
Ok, cool. But why would someone do that on a Saturday?
Because script kiddies don't go to school on Saturdays.

But all of them stupid and pompous.

Logic and reasoning at Slashdot? Hang him by his toes, boys.
Windows Messenger and MSN Messenger are seperate things. Windows Messenger is bundled, and it's a free download anyway.
But people who release their clients under the evil GPL may have trouble opening a dialog with Microsoft.
The headline mentions "MNS Ban." There is no ban. But I guess you want to argue about something that may or may not happen and you don't know yet.
Who started the pointing? Silly troll, you can do better.

DCOM was patched over a month ago.
This worm is another attachment thing. Not Microsoft's fault. More clueless users.

A Hispanic boss I used to have called Windows ME the "Mexican Edition."

It doesn't matter to Slashdot. This is a "Microsoft worm." Never mind admin error.
