    The brake assistance doesn't stop a few seconds after the engine's turned off - it stops after you have used the reserve pressure by depressing the pedal.

    Try pressing the brake pedal on a car which has been standing still for a while. You'll be able to do it once, maybe twice, before you lose the assistance and the pedal becomes much harder. You can still brake, but it takes a lot more effort.

    If you're travelling at any kind of speed, losing power assistance won't be a problem as long as you're expecting it.

    "When did you stop beating your wife?" is a question which assumes the subject has been beating his wife. It's use in his response is not meant as an insult to the poster, merely pointing out that the question assumes that Real has no unique product.

    I think it's the same principle as my girlfriend putting ten pounds worth of petrol in her car every other day, instead of just filling the tank once a week - if she's got less, she's less likely to use it.

    1 - map the sleep button on the keyboard to power off in your keyboard drive.

    2 - enable "wake on keyboard" in your BIOS.

    Absofuckinglutely.

    I was doing a much smaller upgrade this weekend - rebuilding a single server. Before I did anything, I removed the drive, imaged it, and placed it in a very safe place far away from coffee spills and clumsy feet.

    If anything went wrong during the rebuild and I'd been unable to bring the new system up by Monday morning, I'd simply slip the old drive back in and continue from where we were on Friday afternoon.

    I hopped around in a 1 litre 3-cylinder Vauxhall/Opel Corsa for a year or two. Other than a lack of torque until 2500rpm, it drove like a reasonable 1.2 4-cyl, and did 45-50 mpg.

    DACs also kill ADSL connectivity. BT had to remove one to allow a client to get ADSL service. Took them three bloody months, during which time they managed to cut off the ISDN lines twice.

    It wouldn't. The bounce messages are not inspected, and are normally sent to non-existant or random domains. The spammers don't care how many messages bounce, it doesn't cost them anything.

    Back from where, exactly? They could legitimately claim it back from their company if they paid for it from their own pocket, they could claim tax relief on it as a business expense, but sadly nobody goes around giving me money for stuff just because I claim it's a "business expense".

    The physics is only one reason for having speed limits. As you scream around that corner in your penismobile, are you sure there's not someone parked or standing just out of sight? Could you stop in time if there was?
    The fundamental question when picking what speed to drive at is "Can I stop in the distance I can see to be clear?". If the answer is no, you're not just speeding, you're driving recklessly.

    By following the well-hidden link (the word 'is' in the first sentence), you will discover that AXA are sueing because their competitors can use 'AXA' as a search word for their Adwords advert, not because they appear higher in the search listings.

    www.sprintrelayonline.com should filter out every IP address that starts with 80.
    Don't do that. Demon's ADSL services in the UK have IP addresses in the 80.* range - mine are 80.176.x.x, but there may be others.

    One interesting thing I noted in Milan (girlfriend used to live there) was the complete lack of allocated parking spaces. The building she used to live in had about 150 apartments and [i]six[/i] parking spaces to go round. Everyone else had to park on the street (or pavement, roundabout, central reservation... no space is sacred.)

    Seriously, this is a bank encouraging their customers to give out their personal info to people who just call them up. Seriously clueless.
