This infuriates me more than it probably should. I have a co-worker who constantly feels the need to bounce ideas off me while I am usually busy and very focused on something.
We've recently started a slackboard for just this exact issue. Post your shit there instead of interrupting everyone because you need to think out loud.
Can a company that sold you something use its patent on that product to control how you choose to use after you buy it?
Isn't the key difference here that they did it for commercial use and profits?
If I refill my toner myself, then no, they can't tell me how to use my product after purchase. If I refill empty toners and sell them, then it's entirely different.
We get less than 40% of the catalogue in my country (Denmark). And this goes for other services as well.
I don't want to wait up to 3 years before "My Show, Season X" finally airs in my location. Netflix Denmark STILL doesn't have the last season of several shows they offer.
So I can either wait up to 3 years before I can watch shows or pirate it.
And shame on Fitbit for not honoring support or warranty for the company they are buying.
But they're not buying the company. This is from TFA: "We have made the tough decision to shut down the company and no longer manufacture Pebble devices"
Sounds like they sold software right to FitBit and are shutting Pebble down.
"verified By VISA" uses a two-factor authentication. I get a code by text I have to enter whenever I use my VISA on a website that have it enabled.
I really think a system like that should be mandatory for online sales and not just optional.
Of course, there are circumstances where two-factor might not be feasible, but at the very least have two-factor enabled by default and disable it where necessary and with good reason.
Racist.
Really shouldn't bring kids to a Nolan movie anyway.

Silence can be just as deafening as loud co-workers.
I prefer a low volume radio or similar as background. Complete silence is eerie.
A person who knows to install a NoScript plugin, also knows not to blindly use google search as an address bar.
This is akin more to a case of "customer not allowed to refill fuel tank"
More like "Can't refuel anywhere but at our gas stations".

"despite Netflix"?

Why does my browser open up 6 TCP connections to try to download six images at once
The website could easily be serving those 6 images as 1 image and use CSS to display them individually.
So it's not only a browser issue.
Actually, it's a protocol issue.
I believe this sort of thing is being changed for HTTP/2, with multiplexing.
People are dicks. More at 11.
It seems he is using the same computer for both.
To me it reads like he has a dual boot.
No need to have 2 computers, when you can have multiple operation systems installed on the same computer.
Yeah, while ignoring the 70+ other ingredients they add to cigarettes.
Including freaking chocolate to increase dependency.
Not saying nicotine isn't unhealthy, but it's by far not the unhealthiest ingredient in cigarettes.
If it can do sharp turns at the speed of light, is it a C#?
upgraded the ram and installed an SSD myself.
Yeah, good luck with that on newer models. Everything is soldered to the mainboard.
In a manner, yes. With F/G-Sync you get increased input lag.
It's not as bad as with Vertical Sync, but it's still there.
It's been said so many times already, but I'll do it as well; Han Solo is the ONLY one to shoot.
Preemptive strike.
If you are referring to DOTA 2, it's completely free and there is no "pay 2 win".
Purchases are entirely cosmetics.
And people are spending a stupid amount of money on cosmetics, just look at CS:GO.
So just like Facebook does it?
At the very least, the headline should had been "Samsung users".
The summery compares Samsung sales with Apple, not Android.
But Pebble was an actual product, sold as an actual product outside Kickstarter.
Brick and Mortar stores sold Pebble.
Sounds like they are acquiring software assets and possible human resources but not the actual company.
According to TFA, Pebble is shutting down.
They voluntarily signed the code of conduct.
Why would it?
