    ID cards in The Netherlands differ in price per municipality, it's normally between 20 to 30 euro's. About the same as you pay for a passport. It's a little hardplastic creditcard like thing. Don't know where you got that thousands number.

    They didn't burn the Dutch one, no Dutch citizens kidnapped/murdered either. All that, whilest reprinting the cartoons in a couple of mayor newpapers and a Dutch MP who put the cartoons on his website.

    Your definition of corporatism is incorrect, corporatism propagates that government takes in consideration the position and wishes of interests groups. And that's not just Big Business, it also includes unions, civilrightgroups, small business et cetera.

    There's the difference between formal corporatism as it is in my country (The Netherlands) with special councils/commissions were representatives of interest groups take seat, it's in the constitution IIRC.
    And then there's informal corporatism, where the less organised interest groups are powerless against big organised organisations like corporations, like the US.

    When I need fast graphics rendering, it's when I play games (ohmigod, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to bring up the GAMES you can play on Windows and not on Mac, whatever was I thinking? :) ) It was about GUIs. Not about games.

    Here in The Netherlands prostitiuton is legal. They're legitimate businesses that pay taxes. Have government guidelines and everything.

    It does charge the Dutch TV companies. As a matter of fact it's one of the most expensive channels there is.

    Backpackit from the guys who brought you Basecamp HQ and Tadalist. Just launched a couple of days ago, it needs a little work but given their reputation I'd say it'll be the best EVAR! in a very short time :)

    Well it isn't a deadly threat, it would be pretty bad if a little cut/hole/infection could kill you as a diabetic since you have to inject insuline 4 times a day with a needle. Plus if your a 'fresh' diabetic you'll have to test your blood 7 (!) times a day by punching a hole in your finger.

    When you install the Notifier, you will be able to: * automatically check for new messages every two minutes

    My Firefox plugin has a default 5 minute interval :)

    In The Netherlands afaik it's just Hitlers Mein Kampf that isn't distributed, but that's not even because it's banned but because the Dutch government holds the copyright and doesn't want it to be distributed/printed/etc. It's still available at libraries et al, and afaik it's not illegal to import it. So there aren't really any banned books here, there are some extreme groups that don't like it but hey they're small and got nothing to say so nobody really cares :)
