When will they release a MandrakeMove 10? I want to see if and how well Mandrake 10 will perform on a certain set-up, but can't without commiting to a full install.
Would it be impossible to make web standards a browser plug-in? Something like an XML DTD that would be automatically downloaded every month and contained the lastest standards rules, so that all browsers would support the latest features as soon as they are published? Or maybe it's not as simple as that. Maybe there are rendering engine issues, etc. Still, it would be nice.
What can you say about adware infestations other than they can be prevented by using products such as AdAware, SpyBot, AdWatch (always running but it's not free), and other products that are free or at a nominal cost.
That's not prevention - that's cure. Prevention is stuff like Mozilla and a like education.
Often on talk radio I hear them discussing 'controversial' issues like how the internet is bad because of all the "porn sites popping up out of nowhere" and how it - the internet - needs to be heavily regulated. FFS. The problem is not the road; the problem is that shitty car that you're driving!
It also gives the makers time to actually finish writing the game, when you can download all those 'patches', so you never play the buggy (release) version.

"It is understandable that a patent examiner might not be equipped enough to understand a one-click shopping patent, or a patent about 3rd party payment transactions over a phone network"
There is no forgiveness for someone who allows something to pass when they do not understand it. They should find someone who does. If patents are meant to be "not obvious to a professional in the trade", then why aren't professionals consulted?
Oh come on, don't be pedantic. If I gave you a sandwich for free, you'd argue that it is not "free" because you have to use up energy extending your arm to pick it up.
I hate that. They want to advertise something so they make you have to have x installed, and their web page has to detect it, and this, and that. Apple's movie trailer web site is terrible for this. Just provide the direct link to it if you want as many people as possible to watch it. If they have the plug-in installed, it should detect it and pass it to it. If not, they can still download it and watch it with whatever. I mean, if you follow Apple's QT referrers etc and examine the little files you get, it takes you to a direct link to the.mov anyway (via Akamai), as many people have pasted the direct URL to in Slashdot comments, so why not just provide a direct href to it? Not shooting yourself in the foot - at least some people can view it - but shooting yourself in the toe, surely.

The new build system in 2.6 definately rocks, forgot to compile something important in? No need to wait for * to recompile anymore, just the vital parts are re-done.
Hmm, make has always been like that for me, no matter what I compile. It only recompiles the bits needed for the change, never the whole lot...
I fail to see how spying on people (and terrifying them at airports) is protecting their freedom. I demand to be protected from this sort of thing, god damnit.
If people want to avoid a slashdotting, shouldn't they be making torrents themselves?

I was reading this, thinking the 'Columbia 300 Spirit' is going to be some kind of sports car, and then I discover that it's a... bowling ball.
I'd have thought that was obvious from the subject of the article ;-)
Why do all these insignias use Latin? More people know English. NASA's English-speaking.
I don't know Spy Hunter, but you've just described xXx - James Bond with muscles.

Coping with NN4 is easy. Just @import a different stylesheet.

He's well on his way - he already has a seat at the Round Table!
If I wasn't trying to fall asleep, or driving, I would :-/ (I like the bg noise of the radio to drop off to.)

Can't this be likened to paying an assassin to kill someone for you? How come the porn companies aren't being look at here?
Luxury.
